Zaki Watch-Out Your Stinking Mouth : Politically the Dayak are Stupid But Not In Intelligence

Saturday, 1st September 2012

Kuantan, Pahang

His Stupidity Prevails

The first time when I read the article in Free Malaysia Today, just like the rest of my people, his statement did anger me. I would be alright for me  if the statement came from the stupid fellows like Ibrahim Ali or the racist ex-PM because they were both indeed already been  known as racist. But the statement came from the chairman of the Special Review Commission on Civil Service Transformation the person who is supposed to be more intelligent and not biased.

I attached below the article published in Free Malaysia Today, for everyone to read. If you like the article please leave your comments.

Dayak leaders including those from the Barisan Nasional and the opposition are up in arms against a proposal to lower the requirements for ethnic minority groups to enter the civil service. Some even described the recommendation as an insult and mockery to the Dayak community. The focus of their indignation was directed at Zaki Azmi, the chairman of the Special Review Commission on Civil Service Transformation. On Tuesday, Zaki said that the commission would recommend to the government to lower the qualification requirements for the Dayaks and other non-Malay natives not only to enable them to be recruited to the civil service, but also to address the imbalance of racial composition within the civil service.

Fighting for the Dayaks or For Their Votes

The first to fire the salvo was the president of Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Land Development Minister James Masing. He said he did not agree that the quality of the civil service should be compromised by the lowering of entry criteria for ethnic minority groups. He said that there were enough qualified people from the minority groups who could be roped in to serve in the civil service. “Lowering the standard for the sake of the Dayaks is not good. I oppose such a move. But if the main criterion for civil service requirement is merit, then we have enough Dayaks who are qualified to be recruited,” he said. Masing pointed out that no encouragement was needed to attract more Dayaks into the civil service as long as recruitment and promotion were done purely on meritocracy.

Even an NGO, the Miri branch of Orang Ulu Association, opposed the proposal. Its chief Peter Kallang described Zaki’s move as a “mockery and insult” as if there were too few Dayaks qualified to take up jobs in the civil service. “We have many qualified Dayaks working all over the world, with some even employed in international companies. What do you mean we are not qualified?” he asked. Kallang pointed out that there were two reasons why so few Dayaks are in the civil service and these had nothing to do with qualifications. “One, almost all of the top civil servants are from a single ethnic group. “And two, without a set of transparent and unambiguous criteria based on merits, promotions are inevitably subject to the personal judgment of those who do the recruitment and promotion. “The tendency to choose and promote would thus be in favour of those who share a common background with the recruiters, for example, ethnicity, religion, hometown and so on. “Thus, this boils down to discrimination,” he said. Dayaks are dedicated Kallang also said that as far as Dayaks are concerned, once they realised that the majority of civil servants were from a particular racial group, they preferred to be in the private sector “where they may not have to struggle with the hurdle of dealing with discrimination due to ethnicity, religion, and hometown”.

The Piasau division Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Youth chief James Joshua also expressed similar feelings. He said that Dayaks were dedicated, hardworking and capable as evident by their excellent services in the military

Baru Bian...The Real Dayak Leader

Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian said that he could not help but feel indignant and annoyed at Zaki’s statement. “Any reasonable person reading that statement would take it to mean that the ethnic groups of Sabah and Sarawak do not have the intelligence and qualifications to join the esteemed civil service and are somewhat deficient because of that. “I wish to ask the commission chairman [Zaki] to produce statistics to justify his stand. Can we please see the civil service racial parity statistics for last three decades? “It is too simplistic to assume that the percentage of ethnic people in the civil service is low because they do not meet the requirements,” he said. “If the Special Review Commission is really sincere about wanting to correct the imbalance, let them look at the problem squarely in the face and call it what it is,”

Bian said. He also asked the commission why is that so many civil servants and heads of most federal agencies and services in Sarawak were from Peninsular Malaysia. “We do not have the exact figures on the number of directors in the civil service. Deputy Chief Minister [Alfred Jabu Anak Numpang] skirted the issue when he was asked about it during the last State Legislative Assembly sitting for a percentage breakdown of ethnic groups who hold ‘director’ posts in the civil service departments. “He informed the state assembly that Bumiputeras held 88% and non-Bumiputeras held 12% of the director posts and that there are 100 ‘Anak Sarawak’ holding posts as department chiefs in the Sarawak civil service.

“What we want to know is how many of the 88% Bumiputeras holding director posts are Sarawakians. Although it is nice to know that there are 100 ‘Anak Sarawak’ department chiefs, that is not what we want to know. Anyway, that figure seen in isolation does not mean anything to us. “What is the figure as a percentage of the total number of department chief posts available in Sarawak? “What is the rationale of sending civil servants from Peninsular Malaysia to fill positions which Sarawakians are perfectly capable of filling?” he asked, pointing out that most of those transferred are unhappy about being sent to Sarawak. Election ploy?

Bian also said Sarawak is considered a “hardship” posting, and to compensate those who were transferred there, the government has to spend extra to pay them “hardship” allowances. “Similarly, Sarawakian civil servants do not want to be posted away from their hometowns to the Peninsula. “I believe that civil servants will be more motivated and committed to their jobs if they are serving in their home states. “This is not to say that we are against integration between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak; our main concern is that the director posts in all government departments should be held by Sarawakians,” Bian said.

He added that it was now imperative that the federal government give “immediate effect” to the “Borneonisation” of the civil service. This is so that Sarawakians can play a direct role in the administration of their home state as was envisaged by the leaders who insisted on the 18-Point Agreement before agreeing to join in the formation of Malaysia. Questioning the motive of the commission in raising the issue, Bian said: “Lack of qualification is not a factor.

“It makes me wonder whether the ‘magnanimous’ gesture of the commission so close to the election is yet another election gimmick. “To truly effect a change in the public service requires moral fortitude and resolute commitment, which I hope the Special Review Commission and Public Services Commission possess in plentiful supply.

“However, judging from this initial recommendation, I have my doubts. “Please do not condescend to the Dayaks by offering this special concession, which purports to address a non-existent issue. “Besides being a gross insult to the Dayaks, it most definitely does not offer a solution to the real cause of the poor representation of ethnic minority groups in the civil service. “The people recognise a whitewash when they see one,” Bian added.

I Could Not Find Any Reason Why Veteran Iban Leaders Like Jabu, Mawan and Masing Should Stay

Sunday, 26th August 2012
Kuantan, Pahang

Compare to Pahang, Sarawak has so much natural resources and other resources that can generate money that can benefits the rakyat, but the people in Pahang enjoy more developments than the people of Sarawak.

Let's Get Rid Of These Useless Leaders in The Coming GE

After working in this capital state of Pahang for almost 6 months, I start to wonder, why despite it richer than Pahang in term of natural resources, but why there were not much development being felt by the Sarawakian. After making some studies through observations and my encounter with some Pahangians, I concluded, the developments did not reach the majority of Sarawakians particularly the Ibans, because they are being led by the leaders whose mind was only to fill their own pockets first, and to change the livelihood of the people the last.

Being Iban myself, I put the blame on these three leaders who have been representing the Iban community for decades, namely Jabu, Masing and Mawan. For me these three leaders are only good at begging for votes from the Iban community in order to to win in the election. So far they had not dared to fight for their communities be it on economic, social and the education matters.

Jabu is popular for his speech in blaming the Iban for their drinking and gambling habits but he himself had been known to spend tens of thousand of Ringgits on liquor during the Gawai Hantu festival (or the Festival of the Ghosts). He also popularly known  in introducing the non-productive projects to the Iban,  for example the project Ikan Terubok, Projeck Kepayang and so forth ( I could provide failed-projects by Jabu here otherwise my posting will be too long. Alternatively readers can check this with the Iban in Betong and Sri Aman area who will be able to explain in detail). Other than being known with the failed-projects, Jabu and his family also very popular with robbing the Iban of their NCR lands. If one want to know in detail about Jabu family involvement in robbing the Iban of their NCR lands, one can always  check it  with the Land and Survey Department of Sarawak. Other than that, Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) will be able to provide the data on the size of lands under the name of Empiang Jabu in their record.

The next useless Iban leader is William Mawan. Mawan is frrom Pakan , one of the poorest and the less developed area in Sarawak. Not much information  on his weakness that Bukit Tunggal.com can provide on him but sufficed to say that he is good at increasing the collections of  his girl friends.

Masing the President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) the offshoot of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS), an another BN component party that represents the Iban. Personally I look at this minister as a leader who only knows on  how to play "the game blame" but zero contribution to the Iban. In the era of PBDS, he was one of the Iban leaders which every Iban had thought that will fight and will be able to uplift the living standard of the Iban. But after PBDS joined BN, he had became the  another useless Iban leaders who only knows how to fill his own pocket.

Politically, the  Dayak or Iban since Sarawak Independence in 1963 had been very loyal, and majority of them voted for Barisan Nasional (BN) or popularly known as "perintah" by them. Despite of their loyalty, the Iban  had been cheated and promised with empty promise for development by the BN leaders . But after 49 years under BN, not much developments have reached them. And If the people of Sarawak or particularly the Iban want to have more developments to reach them, they should consider giving the Pakatan Rakyat a chance to rule Petra Jaya and Putra Jaya. This is only possible if the people of Sarawak or Iban changing their supports toward the Pakatan Rakyat in the coming general election (GE 13 ).

DAP Exposes Taib's Evil Doing In DUN

Kuching
Sunday, 26th June 2011

Wong Ho Leng Demands Explanation Why Government Lands Were Awarded To Taib's Brother.

The votes that they gave to Masing and the rest of the Iban YB From BN in the Just Concluded State Election have been used to Rob their NCR Lands but with Wong Hong Leng and the rest of DAP YB presence in the August House, the Iban can now be assured that  Masing and the rest of  Iban Lanun will not be able to rob their NCR lands easily....www.Bukittunggal.Com

Eventhought BN Nasional managed to defend Sarawak and obtained more that two third majority, but with more DAP assemblymen presence this time round the DUN Sitting is not going to be an easy ride for BNs' Assemblymen.
So far I am really proud with all the DAP Assemblymen who have been asking questions and condemned  the Barisan Nasional especially with matter related to Iban's interests. Whether they are aware or not that they are being betrayed by their dayak assemblymen but with DAP assemblymen around the dayak especially the Iban whose NCR lands have been subjected to the JV can now rely on DAP's assemlymen to protect their most valuable assets the NCR Land...hopefully.
Please see the article cited from Free Malaysiakini about Hong Ho Leng from DAP demanded explanation from the August House why the land in Sibu which was first acquired by the non-bumiputera own company but at the end was given to Taib Mahmud's brother in 2007.

Bukit Assek state assemblyperson Wong Ho Leng has demanded to know why a huge parcel of land was alienated to a company owned by Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud's brother, Ibrahim, and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Tiong Thai King.
Wong, also Sarawak state legislative assembly opposition leader, said Ibrahim and Tiong, who is also Lanang member of parliament, are already "multi billionaires".
The 3,000-acre land should have been alienated to PJ Green Field Sdn Bhd, a reputable agriculture company, and not to Victoria Square Development Sdn Bhd, he said.
He added that PJ Green Field Sdn Bhd with some 90 farmers had applied for the alienation of the land located at the south of Loba Kabong forest reserve, about 9km northwest of Sibu town, for mixed crop agricultural development.

Wong (above) was speaking yesterday during the debate on the motion of thanks after Yang di-Pertua Negeri Abang Muhamad Salahuddin Abang Barieng's opening address.
"The proposed area is classified as a mixed zone land.
"The company proposed to plant mandarin oranges, coffee and aloe vera," he said, adding that these agriculture activities will create employment and rejuvenate the entire west bank of Batang Igan.
Big dreams, big plans, big letdown
The application, dated Nov 28, 2003, was rejected in October 2006.
Wong said the company then learnt that the land in question was alienated as Lot 63 Block 6 Engkilo Land District to Victoria Square Development Sdn Bhd in April 2007.
He said: "Why are people of different spectrum treated differently? The land ought to be given to the farmers."
He added that on Dec 12, 2007, slightly over a year later, PJ Green Field was informed that the land that they had applied for was likely subject to native customary rights .
"This is a lie. How can native customary rights not be determinable by 2007?
"Above all else, how could this land be likely subject to native customary rights when it could be alienated to Victoria Square Development Sdn Bhd eight months earlier?" he asked.
Wong asked Taib, who is also the minister of planning and resource management, to inform the House whether political reasons underlay the alienation exercise.
He said the government should encourage reputable farmers to apply for agriculture land, since there are so much suitable state reserve land available.
"I have said before in this House that our state must encourage agricultural activities as well as diversify," he said, adding that the state must spread into other agriculture sectors and not just focus on oil palm alone as the international price of palm oil fluctuates.

Snowdan Lawan Punishes Two Village Heads For Failure To Persuade Their Anembiaks to Vote For Him

Kuching
Saturday, 11th June 2011

Snowdan Lawan uses 1Malaysia Netbook to punish all the village heads (Tuan Rumah) that failed to influence their people to vote for him during the just concluded Sarawak State Election.

Netbook 1Malaysia is a bait for BN to fish for votes from the TRs in Sarawak!

Last week on a first day of Gawai Dayak festival, my uncle who was also the village head (TR) of one of the longhouse under N25-Balai Ringin, showed me the 1Malaysia netbook which was according to him given by YB Snowdan Lawan. At that time I thought all the TRs were given with one.

Yesterday, one again  I went back to Kampong Empaling to visit my mother. Not long after I reached home, at about 10.00PM one of the TR from Kampong Isu came our house. For the benefit of the readers of Bukittunggal.com, Kampong Isu is one of the longhouse under N25-Balai Ringin where Snowdan Lawan lost miserably during the state election and is also the longhouse where Dan Giang one of the candidate that stood against Snowdan Lawan. To cut the story short, while we were having black coffee this TR informed me that he was not very happy with YB Snowdan Lawan and felt humiliated as he was not given with the 1Malaysia Netbook. According to him another TR that was not issued with 1Malaysia netbook due to the same reason was a TR from Kampong Gayau which is located not far from Kampong Isu.

MACC must look into this problem seriously. The netbook was supposed to be given to all those eligible in this case the longhouse Chiefs or TR. The monies for these netbooks came from tax payers and not from Snowdan lawan or his father Donald Lawan. The laptop should not be used as bait for BN to fishing for Votes especially from the TRs.

I am not posting this article here because I am against Snowdan lawan. But my main reason is to inform MACC how BN YBs are using the tax payer monies for their own benefits and to fish for Votes. To MACC what are you waiting for?

James Masing Warns Ibrahim Ali Not To Anger the Dayak Christians Or Risk Losing His "Head"!

Kuching
Thursday, 26th May 2011

James Masing..Keep It Up. Let's "Pumpong Pala" Ibrahim Ali!

The real James Masing the Dayak Aspirant Leader During Ming Court Prevails By his stern Warning to Ibrahim Ali the Malay Extremist group President. Keep it up Masing. Duku Ilang is always greater than Keris!

Angry with Ibrahim Ali the PERKASA President For declaring "crusade war" against Christians, James Masing warned Ibrahim Ali to mind his language so as not to offend fellow Malaysians from other faiths especially the Christians.

Borneo Post reports James Masing described Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s call for Muslims to declare a “crusade against ungrateful Christians” as extreme :-

“Ibrahim Ali’s view is an extremist view by Perkasa. It is very unhealthy as it is against the Prime Minister’s 1Malaysia concept,” said Masing.
James Masing also warned Ibrahim Ali that his statement has angered the Iban which majority are christian.
“I must warn him that the Dayak community in Sarawak also has certain phrases such as ‘Pumpung pala’ (chopping the heads of the enemies) to use against someone they don’t like " said Masing, who is an anthropologist by training.
Iban is the majority group in Sarawak but despite being majority the Iban is the most less developed race in Malaysia. This is mainly due to Taib Mahmud  politic of discrimination against the Iban. Under the constitution the Iban being the native our interest should be protected by the King and should be given special   status as the Malay. But why now Iban is remained one of the less developed race in Malaysia. Despite that we never offend our fellow Malaysians. To Ibrahim Ali please stop you irresponsible act and help in building  this nation. Your rhetoric will not help this nation. By looking at your action lately under PERKASA you should be stripped-off your datukship. People like Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh and Lim Guan Eng is more fit to be bestowed with DATUK title if compare with you.
To Hishamuddin, if this one Ibrahim Ali is not charged for a crime that he committed, you risk losing this country and turn it into Pakistan or Afghanistan. But the choice is yours whether to keep this one person mouth  shut or risk losing this wonderful country to extremist like Ibrahim Ali.

PBB Youth Reminds Not To Deceive Sarawakians

Kuching
Wednesday, 18th May 2011

PBB Youth...We all knew of your stupidity but please Keep it by yourself....

If  I was given the opportunity to choose the Chief Minister of this lovely land of the Hornbill, I am not going to choose Taib Mahmud. There are many reasons why I am not going to choose him. Among others are  because of his corruption and cronyism practices, and the most importantly of  his ill treatment towards the Iban. After more than 30 years under Taib Mahmud, Iban has became the poorest , the less developed among the natives of Sarawak and the worst thing, our NCR lands have been shrinking.

Borneo Post today reports that a group of PBB youth led by Wan Hamzah Wan Paie yesterday lodged a police report against Francis Siah at Central Police station over MoCS’ alleged malicious activities. On top of that they also threaten MOC by given it seven days to retract a statement that it would initiate a street demonstration if Chief Minister Pehin Seri Abdul Mahmud does not step down on August 13 this year, failure which, they will seek legal action and meet Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein to curb “those subversive elements”.

Being one of the victim of Taib ill treatment, I want PBB youth especially from PESAKA  wing to think carefully whether the should defending Taib Mahmud to remain as the CM of Sarawak. As to the Bumiputera wing, I urge all of you to revisited the just concluded  Sarawak State Election.
Even thought BN managed to retain Sarawak with more than 2/3 majority but this did not mean that majority of  Sarawakians wanted Taib to stay on. During the campaign, Taib had promised to the voters that he will step down after the election. The pledge was made with the  presence of Najib Razak. And to reinforce this Najib Razak had made similar announcement that Taib will step down after the election. Therefore I have questions  for PBB youth. Question 1, what crime has Francis and MoC members committed by urging Taib Mahmud to step down before 13th August 2011, and my second question, why none of them dare to make report to MACC and the police for his corruption and abused of power practices?

To the PBB youth I warns everyone of you to go to Kota Sentosa hospital to check your mental state. No normal Sarawakian  would like Taib Mahmud to still cling on to power except those like PBB youth members whose mind were retarded!

To the rest of Sarawakians especially the dayak, let's pray for Taib to step down and to face the law for his corruptions and cronyism practices.

Masing Rewarding The Longhouses That Voted For Him Is Tantamount To Vote Buying and Misused Of Government Coffers

Kuching
Tuesday,3rd May 2011

Hi EC and MACC..Wake Up Will All of You. Was this not Vote Buying and Misused Of Government Coffers?

This is one of the reason why the Iban easily marginalised by BN. Just imagine how the rest of the longhouses that did not vote for him felt. Yes they felt humiliated and ashamed of themselves. The Iban in Baleh particularly the longhouses that were not rewarded should teach him the lesson. Remember that he receives his YB allowance to represent all the people of Baleh and not only those who voted for him!

Throughout my entire life today is the first time that I came across where a political leader rewards  the people that voted for him with money and vase . But this was happened in Baleh and done by one of the most stupid Iban minister, Dr (aha...)Jemut ak Masing. This minister in the mid-80's, I admired him so much this was due to the way how he bravely defended the interests of the Iban particularly their NCR lands alongside Datuk Seri Daniel Tajem from Taib Mahmud and his cronies. But today he is no longer fit himself as the Iban leader but is more qualified as one of the most disgrace Iban leader alongside Jabu Numpang.

In Kapit last night, PRS organised the appreciation dinner for the longhouses in Baleh (N56-Baleh) that  strongly supported him based on the highest number of votes for the BN and having the least votes for Pakatan Rakyat (PKR) during the just concluded 10th Sarawak State Election.

Which Long houses Won the Contest? Be Warned You  Have Been Bought By Masing!

During the dinner, the best long houses that strongly supported the BN went to Polling Station/Team No.17, covering Rumah Mansai, Rumah Unggat and Rumah Pioh at Sungai Majau, the birth place of Masing. The three longhouses records 175 votes for BN with one vote for PKR. Second placing went to polling Station/Team No. 27, covering Rumah Mawang at Nanga Senuang and Rumah Wong at Telok Buing came in second place. The two longhouses recorded 97 votes for BN and a single vote for PKR. The third best went to  the long house of Rumah Barang that has a clean record with all 75 voters from the said long houses voted for BN. And the fourth placing was won by  long houses under Polling Station/Team No.1 namely Rumah Ngiang, Rumah Ajai, Rumah Anchi  and Rumah Robin Bungkong from Sungai Majau. The longhouses recorded 175 votes for BN and 2 votes for PKR.
All the winners were awarded with RM 5000, RM 3000, RM 2500 and RM2000 respectively,  while each of the ‘Tuai Rumah’ was given a vase respectively.
The long houses that had voted for Masing with bigger majority had been rewarded with money. What about the rest of the long houses that exercised their rights according to their wishes and not voted for Masing ? Will they be also deprived of the government funds? And another point which we need to consider is the source of the money  for the rewards came from? MACC should take action pro-actively and not waiting until someone blows the trumpet.

Masing Must Learn What It Takes As A Good Leader

If someone has to be blamed for Taib Mahmud marginality of the Iban, Masing is the top person on the list. Voting  is supposed to be the right of every citizen. He/she may choose whose ever person  that he/she felt is the right candidate for him/her. Giving  rewards to those who voted for him with any form of rewards what to say if the money came from the government coffers is tantamount to misuse of government funds thus should dealt accordingly. Not recognising or deprive those who did not vote for you during the election from any government projects or funds is not suppose to be done by any good leader. We know that you are not a good leader what to say qualified as the "Iban Paramount Leader" but it still not to late for you to learn what it need to be a good leader. You must learn to accept the fact that not many people in Baleh like you. But it is not their problem. It is yours. Being a leader you must a way how to win their hearts and make them like you. Deprived and sideline them will make the matter worst.
Another fact that you need to accept whether you like it or not is that you are being paid by the tax payer money thus you must serve everyone (those who voted or did not vote for you) in N56-Baleh.
To the PRS and to you Masing, please do not over joys. Pakatan Rakyat is getting stronger and stronger  especially with the DAP and SNAP planned merger. If you dont change your behaviour you and your party may lose miserably in the coming Parliament or State election.

After 30 Years In Power Taib is Capable to Fulfill His New Wife With Financial Needs But Not Her Sexual Needs Even With the Help Of Viagra

Kuching
Saturday, 5th February 2011

After Looking at several photos of Taib with his new wife I just imagined how he could fulfill his new wife who is not yet reaching the age of 30s sexual life.
After more than 30 years in power, ransacking natives of their NCR lands, no doubt this great grand father is capable to fulfill his new wife with the monies that she needs.

After this, millions of Sarawakian monies will flow to Syria. Sarawakian especially the natives, if the people in Egypt can ousted their corrupt President, there is no reason that we the men of the headhunter cannot throw him from power.

Dayak Must Go back To basic By Joining SNAP

"The New SNAP in the making...Starting Point in SIBU"

Is PKR The Right Party For Dayak/Iban?

About three years ago I decided to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) because I could not find any party that fit to my struggle at that time.
But lately I saw the party has diverted from its original struggle. Greed and power has become the norm among leaders in the party. The resignation of Zaid Ibrahim and Jefferrey Kitingan has weaken the party further. Thing became worst with both leaders forming-up their own party and NGO; Zaid formed Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (KITA) whareas Jeffrey Kitingan formed  United Borneo Front (UBF).

Just like UMNO, Internal bickering, politicking, back-stabbing, treason, sabotage have begun to rear its ugly head within the party. I don't have to go far to provide an example. During the party election in P202, one can see how the three candidates Jimmy, Ibi and Cubbold could not see face  to face with each others.

Why Iban/Dayak Should Join SNAP

In December 2010, the same friend that influenced me to join PKR had talked to me about the plan by SNAP leadership to rejuvenate (as I preferred to call it, even thought the party leaderships called it rebranding) the party

At first I was not interested to join the party because  the party crisis in 1983 which resulted in the formation of the PBDS still very clear in my mind. Just like the majority of the dayak/Iban ( eventhought I was still studying in Form 3 at the time of the  crisis ) my family was the strong supporter of SNAP and its young aspiring politician Datuk Daniel Tajem.
But with the new development especially with Datuk Daniel Tajem returned to the party by becoming its advisor, has changed my feeling towards the party.

Other than that I have been looking at PKR as not very serious with Sarawak. The party is
more focused on the general election in the peninsula. It is not interested in Sarawak. If the party is not intetrested with us, why we should stay cling to the party?

I Urge the Iban/Dayak to Join SNAP

Most if not all the Dayak/Iban that are  in the PKR nowasaday are from the supporter of  the unregistered Malaysia Dayak Congress. Since SNAP has rebranding itself  similar to the MDC or PBDS. Romours have been flying around that SNAP is a BN tool to sebotage People Alliance (Pakatan Rakyat) cooperation in Sarawak. I guarantee that SNAP presence will fill-up the vacuum left by PBDS.

I hope that all partyless ex-PBDS members, all dayak leaders and supporters in PKR, DAP and PCM, and also to all the dayak in BN component parties to come together and join this new SNAP.

I am extending this invitation especially to Sdra Baru Bian (who himself was the strong supporter of the unregistered MDS) to join SNAP so as not to split the dayak strength. Let vacant  PKR  because the party is  more suitable for the Malay/Melanau.
Hopefully with this new SNAP, the interests of the dayaks will be assured off...

The Arrest Of SADIA Secretary : Malaysian Government Practices Double Standard

Kuching
Wednesday, 12th Jan 2011

Nicholas Mujah has been arrested for 'possession of seditious materials'.

When PERKASA committed criminal Action by Instigating Racial Unrest the Government of Malaysia under Barisan Nasional did not take any Action, but when the Dayak NGO Leader doing something to defend their rights, the were arrested.
The BN government power crazy and unfairly treatment of the dayak/Iban is getting  out of control. Since our politicians cannot defend us, we are urging the international community to help us.

Recently the Police have arrested two indigenous leaders for possession of ‘seditious materials’.

The offices of the Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (SADIA) were raided and its secretary, Nicholas Mujah, arrested along with two others, while indigenous lawyer Abun Sui Anyit was arrested at a Sarawak airport last Thursday. The two men were held separately and questioned, then released on bail. Abun Sui Anyit was called for further questioning by police yesterday.

A SADIA staff member and an election observer, who were also arrested at the SADIA office, were not questioned.

Mujah and Anyit both had CDs containing recordings of independent radio and television broadcasts.

Sarawak’s indigenous peoples, including the Iban and the hunter-gatherer Penan tribe, have seen much of their rainforest destroyed by logging companies licensed by the state government. Palm oil companies, also with government backing, are now establishing plantations on indigenous land.

Nicholas Mujah said today, ‘I am asking the international community to focus your hearts on the suffering of indigenous peoples in Sarawak, Malaysia. The government has renewed its aggressive activities among indigenous activists and rights defenders because of the upcoming election. We are struggling for survival and fighting legal battles against the government over our ancestral land, to stop it being taken from us.’

The Sarawak government has repeatedly curtailed the civil rights of those who oppose its policies. More than a hundred members of the Penan tribe were arrested in 1987 when they mounted road blockades to try to keep logging companies out of their forests.

Sarawak’s state elections are due to take place by July this year. The state’s Chief Minister Taib Mahmud has been in power since 1981.

Survival’s director Stephen Corry said today, ‘Taib Mahmud is facing increasing criticism of his government’s total disregard for indigenous peoples’ rights. Arresting their leaders is unlikely to boost his popularity.’

To all the Iban/Dayak out there, please wake up. Let's fight this Barisan Nasional government together. This can be done by Vote Them Out in the coming state election.

Taib Mahmud Plundering of Sarawak : Pulau Bruit Continued

Kuching
Wednesday, 8th December 2010

Revelations after revelations have been made by Sarawak Report but until now,  MACC has still not taking any action against the most corrupt and the longest serving Chief Minister in the world. What is Naijb waiting For? Is he waiting for this old man no longer in power? Or after he dies?
Only God Knows...

Certain people in high places are given to alleging that the facts which have been published in Sarawak Report may not be true. Yet, the allegations we have published have been verifiable and documented.

Likewise, available to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in the government’s own register of companies, is the following irrefutable information. The company Mesti Bersatu is a major shareholder in Delta Padi Sdn Bhd, a venture that has caused shocking devastation on the mainly Melanau island of Pulau Bruit.

Also documented and verifiable is the fact that the Sarawak government has handed large tracts of land in Sungai Lengan on Pulau Bruit at minimal cost (RM78,000 for 100 hectares) to Delta Padi Sdn Bhd to develop a rice project, for which laughable levels of compensation have been offered to the Native Customary Landowners of the area. Pristine Mangrove forests have been destroyed over the past four years and the waters of the region have been polluted. Environmentalists are concerned that the development is now illegally encroaching also on the National Park on the island.

Mesti Bersatu, which is such a large shareholder in this enterprise, belongs to the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Abdul Taib Mahmud and members of his family. His name is printed in black and white as a key shareholder in the Register of Companies for all to see. This means that as the Head of Government he has been handing the land and development opportunities to himself.

Mesti Bersatu’s two partners in Delta Padi are Taib’s business crony Hii Yu Peng and the organisation Pelita, which belongs to Sarawak’s Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), of which Chief Minister Taib Mahmud is also the Chairman! This is all in black and white – there can be no argument.

It should be observed that the Sarawak Government has given these grants of valuable land to Delta Padi thanks to specific decisions by the Planning & Resources Minister and, of course, the Chairman of the LCDA. These key decision-making positions when it comes to the granting of land are both occupied by the Chief Minister, Abdul Taib Mahmud. Therefore, Taib has particularly used his position of direct authority over these departments to hand himself cheap land, which he had alienated from the native people. This is a clear case of conflict of interest, abuse of power and corruption.

Not just public land but also public money has been channelled into the Chief Minister’s company

However, it has not just land that Taib has been handing to himself through to Delta Padi Sdn Bhd. Both state and federal government money is also evidently being poured into supporting the venture, of which he and his family are such major shareholders. These resources will have been made available thanks, of course, to the decisions of Sarawak’s Finance Minister. Sarawak’s Finance Minister is also Abdul Taib Mahmud. This is another clear case of conflict of interest, abuse of power and corruption.

In an announcement to the news agency Bernama in 2004, the Minister James Masing explained the Sarawak Government’s policy towards the project – a policy that is spearheaded by the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, Land & Resources Minister and Chairman of the LCDA, who are all Abdul Taib Mahmud. The report quotes Masing:

Since Sarawak is basically in its early stage of rice production, subsidy must be provided for it to succeed.” He [Masing] said his ministry would act as the main co-ordinator between the various state and federal agencies and ministries involved in order for it to succeed.
He said under Phase One of its proposed development, a sum of RM19 million was needed for its irrigation system and he hoped the Federal Ministry of Agriculture could make the fund available soon. Masing said it had been estimated that about RM75 million was needed for the granary overall development……….
On the Delta Padi Plantation, he said since its inception seven years ago, a sum of RM18 million had been spent in its development. It had also invested RM8 million on its own rice milling facility the biggest in the country …. Masing said the state government would assist Delta Padi in dealing with its main rat and bird problems and in looking for more markets for its rice. He urged the national rice board or BERNAS to lend a helping hand”. [James Masing, Bernama 18/10/2004]

Corruption

The above information is all verifyable to the Malaysian Government and the MACC  through the Register of Companies, their own official documents and ministerial announcements.  The  government auditors will be well-placed also to assess just how much Federal and State money has in total been poured into helping Delta Padi develop the project, in which the Chief Minister and his family hold a such a major shareholder  interest.  In this context they might like to consider how little of those substantial millions ave been spent in assisting the desperately poor Melanau and Iban populations of the area who have lost their fishing and hunting grounds and are suffering flooding and pollution as a result of the degradations and plantations on their Native Customary Lands?

So what is not true?

Therefore Sarawak Report would like to enquire on what basis BN commentators are to suggest that our accusations might be untrue and on what basis the MACC is refusing to investigate the State of Sarawak’s Chief Minister for abusing his powers to enrich himself and his family? Perhaps it is because it would appear that the members of the BN party have a highly undeveloped understanding of what forms corrupt practice?  In an interview recorded last week, Taib’s political ally, YB Karim Hamza, attempted to justify the Sarawak State Government’s current White Paper proposals to clamp down on media outlets like Sarawak Report, with a series of statements that have caused hilarity throughout Malaysia and abroad.

While complaining that the reports on Taib’s wealth are not proven, Hamza’s simultaneously sought to justify it!   It would surely be “unfair” he argued for the Chief Minister not to be able to take up the “opportunities” provided by his office for example to buy “cheap land” if someone were to offer it to him? Hamza further articulated at length how public office is regarded by himself and fellow BN members not as an opportunity to serve the community, but as an opportunity to get into business at the same time and to make money from the “connections” that arise.  Mixing politics and business in such a way is essentially the dictionary definition of political corruption and Hamza has openly admitted to approving it. In the interview, which can be heard on Radio Free Sarawak via it’s website http://www.radiofreesarawak.org/  he frequently declares that it would not be “fair” if only businessmen and not politicians could be wealthy and “fly around in jets” and asserts that the families of politicians must of course be advantaged by using their resulting ‘network’ of connections.  He also slanderously implied that Prime Ministers in the UK and USA do the same and are “all filthy rich”.

Since Abdul Taib Mahmud, who receives a modest official salary appropriate to the concept of public service, is clearly wealthy beyond imagination; since he puts endless government contracts the way of his family; since he demands large sums of money and shares from any business that seeks to gain a licence to operate in Sarawak and since he also flies around constantly in private jets, we can only conclude that the Chief Minister agrees one hundred percent with Hamza’s justifications of corruption.

Favours to Delta Padi from Taib’s government departments

It is clear that Mesti Bersatu’s involvement in the Delta Padi project forms one of the ‘business opportunities’ of the sort that YB Karim Hamza was referring to.  Crony business tycoon Hii Yu Peng evidently provided the Chief Minister with an ‘opportunity’ to take a stake in his venture to turn the Native Customary Rights Lands on the pristine island of Bruit into a paddy project.

Mr Hii Yu Peng has of course put in most of the private capital into the venture, true to the pattern of all Taib’s dealings with local towkeys in search of land and licences, which he totally controls.  Indeed it is extremely unlikely that the Taib family company Mesti Bersatu has contributed a single penny to Delta Paddy in return for the quarter of all the shares that they have acquired.
A further quarter of the shares are in the hands of the state agency Pelitia, most likely pending a suitable time for their ‘privatisation’ into the Taib family clutches, after the need for more state funding has passed (keep reading Sarawak Report for further evidence on this practice).

In return for this private investment by Hii, the State Government and in particular the LCDA department of which Taib is Chairman, has granted an eye-watering level of ‘opportunities’ to Delta Padi.  These ‘opportunities’ also noticeably escalated in the aftermath of the incorporation of Mesti Bersatu in May 2007 and its involvement in the Delta Padi project. Sarawak Reports researches have now identified the following plots mainly in ulau Bruit, as having been handed to Delta:
(1)  3 plots in Sungai Lengan, Sibu (acquired 2005 – 2010) amounting to 100  hectares for a bargain  basement RM78,000
(2) 6 plots in Batang Lebaan, Sibu (acquired 2007) amounting to 2,000 for  RM2.5 million
(3) 2 plots in Sungai Buloh (acquired 1999) amounting to around 300 hectares  for nothing.
(4) 4 plots in Serendeng Sarikei (acquired 2009 and 2010) amounting to 1,000 hectares for a give-away RM700,000
(5) 2 plots in Tulai Meradong (acquired 2008) amounting to about 400  hectares for RM310,000
(6) 4 plots in Paloh (acquired 2000-2005) amounting to around 7,700 hectares between 1998-2008 for roughly RM 2.75 million
(7) 1 plot in Mukah (2008) of 5,000 hectares for RM 2.5 million.

Coming to court

The recent extension of the lands handed to the Delta Padi venture has now sparked a legal action by 8 Native Iban villages, who will be represented by the human rights lawyer and PKR leader of Sarawak Baru Bian.  Mr Bian will most likely be surprised to discover that he is to be challenging the Chief Minister himself in this civil case, as locals were misleadingly informed that the company behind the Delta Padi project was Rimbunam Hijau, presumably in a mishandled attempt to hide Taib’s involvement. Sarawak Report is wondering when such civil cases against the Chief Minister will finally give way to more appropriate criminal cases in the Federal Courts of Malaysia, given the evidence of this and numerous other cases of corruption by BN in Sarawak?

To all Sarawakians let's Pray to God so that this old man receive his earthly  punishment soonest..
