Dayak Leaders In Sarawak Should Learn From the Dayak Leaders in Kalimantan Indonesia

Dayak in Indonesia, just like us under Barisan Nasional Government rule, they had also been marginalised since the 18th Century when Indonesia was still under Dutch rule. But following the collapse of Suharto regime in 1999, they started to unite under the dayak flag. The dayak associations in Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan -Kalteng, East Kalimanatan -Kaltim and West Kalimantan-Kalbar) have been used as a platform for dayak unity in politic. Nowaday dayaks in Kalimantan are politically strong and stable.

After being marginalised for century, with political power that they owned, the dayak leaders in Kalimantan started to help it communities by providing good basic amneties such as road and elecricity. Eventhough the size of Kalimanatan is about double of the size of Sarawak but they still manage to provide better roads and electricity to the dayak communities.

For example In March 2009,they signed an Agreement with Sarawak Energy Supply Berhad (SESB) for a supply of electricity to Kalimantan Barat (West kalimantan-Kalbar). The event was officiating by his excellency the Governor of West Kalimantan Drs Cornelis MH. SESB was reprented by its Chairman Datok Abdul Hamid Sepawi . Drs Cornelis in his speech said

“Selagi untuk kepentingan rakyat banyak bagi kita tidak masalah, karena secara ekonomis memberikan manfaat besar untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup dan kesejahteraan masyarakat khususnya di daerah perbatasan yang selama ini serba tertinggal,” (Translated -As long as the project will benefits the people, the cost is not a matter for us becauses economically it will uplift the living standard of the people and brings peace to the people especially those stay along the boarder who has been left behind)...

Dayak leaders in Kalimantan are willing to spent monies to upgrade the standard of living of the dayaks, contrary to the dayak leaders in Sarawak (especially Jabu and Masing) who are only keen to fill their own pockets. Everytime when the problem of electricity being raised, they will give 1000 excuses to their people and the most popular excuses are that the long houses are scattered and blaming the big size Sarwak. Is sarawak bigger than Kalimantan in size?

Penanti By-Election- Clear Indicator That Pakatan Rakyat Capable to Wrest Power From BN and Najib

Warning to BN and Najib....Your time is NEAR!

Mansor of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is on the way to become Penang's new DCM after winning Penanti by bagging 6,052 votes. His nearest rival is Nai Khan, 494 votes, followed by Aminah, 392, and Kamarul, 56. The result of the by-election is a clearly indicator that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is gaining it popularity among the voters in peninsular Malaysia. A bad sign for Barisan Nasional and the new Prime Minister Najib. BN was not contesting in the Penanti by-election because they did not want to be humiliated. The previous by-election that they contested, they lost both of the seats to Pakatan. Let's proof my word that BN is no longer relevant by dissolving Perak DUN.. I dare Najib to dissolve Perak DUN now! See if BN are coward or not... Congratulation to PKR and PR teams in Penanti.... As for the the voters in Sabah and Sarawak..let's learn from our brothers and sisters in Peninsular Malaysia...

"To Drop Term Dayak" Entulu Under Attack- One Page Explanation By Entulu in Local Newspaper

31st May 2009. Joseph Entulu, Deputy Minister under the dayak ticket, who had on 10th May 2009 proposed to the government for the term "dayak" to be dropped immediately, today had published one full page about what he really said to the BERNAMA reporter that he met after the function. Personally whatever explanation that he made, it was all bullshits. Entulu together with all the dayak traitors in Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) has been the anti-dayak establishment since they announced of their allignment with Tok Uban in late 90s. Their group were the culprit that supported the Land Code ammendment that caused the dayaks their NCR lands to Tok Uban and his cronies. Later on, their group also instrumented in the diregisteration of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) the only dayak based party in the whole world. Therefore when the same person/group proposed for the word "dayaks" to be dropped , I was not surprised. To Entulu, what ever damaged that you have done only the time will tell. You may cheat our people in the longhouses but not to the other 60 % of the dayaks. Lastly Entulu..damaged has been done. You disappointed us all and are the disgraced to the dayak communities. Joseph Entulu Under Attack For His Stupid Proposal To Abolish the term Dayak

Introduction

Gawai Dayak is just around the corner. In conjunction with the celebration, I would like to write an article on the Dayak Community... Lately so much has been discussed about the term dayak. It all started when Datuk Joseph Entulu, a Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister on 10th May 2009, proposed that the term dayak should be dropped and replace with Iban, Bidayuh, Kenyah..etc. He made such a stupid and uncivilized proposal when met by the reporters after witnessing the installation of the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Rajang Branch new committee members led by its chairman Maj (Rtd) Mosses Ripai. According to Entulu, the term should be dropped because it conveyed negative connotations like being uncivilized, uncouth and “low class. Other than that according to Entulu, the term dayak had not been acknowledged according to their respective ethnic groups. According to Entulu, the term dayak should be also abolished because it was not nationwide recognized. He quoted an example where Dayaks working in the peninsula were turned away when they wanted to invest in the Amanah Saham Nasional or when they applied for low-cost housing because some people there thought they were not bumiputra. To strengthen his call, Entulu said that some leaders of Sarawak non-Muslim communities had some years ago suggested that the government stop using the term. He strongly believed that the suggestion has the tacit support of the leaders and the people concerned. Response From The Dayak Communities Most of the dayak community leaders and individual that met and asked to comment on Entulu proposal, had in total disagreement with him. Some even suggested that Entulu should be stripped off his deputy minister post. They believed that Entulu is holding the post on dayak ticket. Some of the dayak leaders (political and NGO) that met and opposed to Entulu proposal were :-

• Comments - Disagreed with Entulu and added " The colonial powers could not have coined the term Dayak because it was an existence long before they set foot in Sarawak. The term used in this context is a generalised term that covers three main non-muslim bumiputeras - Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu.

• Comments - Since time immemorial, the Bidayuh have referred to themselves as Dayak that literally means people. The notion that the word was coined by anyone, or for that matter, the colonial power, has little basis.

• Comments - The term Dayak has been been widely accepted and establihed in this country. Whoever suggests that it should be dropped must be crazy.

• Comments- As a Bidayuh, If I were to say the term Dayak was uncivilised, uncounth and low class, then I would be suffering from inferiority complex. It shows I am not proud of who I am and What I represent.

My Comments

As far as the history is concerned, the term dayak has been used by the Dutch, Portuguese back in 1600s to describe the natives of Borneo ; in Kalimantan and Sarawak.

The best example for us to look at in the usage of term dayak is our brother in Kalimantan Indonesia. During Suharto rule, just like us, they were also marginalised. Their land were taken away from them for timber, oil-palm plantation and gold mine by Suharto and his cronies.

But after the fall of Suharto , with the new order, they formed-up Dayak Association. One of such association that has been very succesfully in unite the Dayak is Lembaga Musyawarah Masyarakat Dayak dan Daerah Kalimantan Tengah ( LMMDD-KT) in Kalimantan Tengah. Nowadays Dayak in Central Kalimantan (or Kalteng) has better representation in the government, even the governor is a Dayak.

The top Dayak Communities -Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu etc.., should forget about politicking for personal gain but start to work for the communities. At present most of our leaders are willing to sacrificing the survival of our communities in order to gain personal interest. The best example is Jemut Masing himself. He has willing to sacrifice his political ambition (of course to fight for the right of the Iban community) after given the ministrial job by Pehin Seri Taib Mahmud, Malaysian longest serving Chief Minister/Menteri Besar.

As for Joseph Entulu, for his stupid proposal he deserved with the most severe punishment that is on exile to the "no man land" (as he is no longer belong to the dayak).....

Masind Admits that Dayak are Stupid

Sri Aman, 17 April 2009. When speaking at an Easter dinner organized by PRS Bukit Bangunan division, Masing admitted that Dayak still lack the element of smartness. The antonym of smart is stupid. So in another word James Masing admitted that we , the DAYAK are stupid. I repeat James Masing said dayak are STUPID.

In his speech he said “Politic within the community (Dayak) , particularly the rural areas, is fluid until now because there is lack of smart factor (translated Stupid). And because of that they will listen to instigation and get manipulated by certain individuals”.

100% Agree. This has been proven so many times. Lubok Antu for example, majority of the dayak there realized that they had been cheated by Barisan Nasional especially their land taken from them, empty promised on development , but during the by-election election, BN just need to throw few hundred ringgits to each of the voters, had made them changed their perceptions for 360 degrees and voted for BN.

I am also in the agreement with you Masing Sir,  that we the dayak are stupid , because we can easily got cheated by BN even though majority of the villages heads (Tuai Rumah) know very well that BN leaders are corrupted.

YB Datuk Sir, even if we don’t tell the whole world that dayak  are stupid in politic, our counter parts in Semenanjung /Peninsular had already knew about it especially after 7th April By-election in Batang Ai.
You may need to explain these two observations Made by Us Regarding A Rift in PRS + Jabu :-

Based on our observation, there are two groups in your party PRS. One group is aligned to you and another group aligned to Donald Lawan , a strong supporter of PBB (YB Jabu Numpang).

Please help to explain these two observations :

(1) Why YB Mong was not involved in organizing the Pesta Tapah Pantu to be held from 24th to 26th April 2009?

(2) Why YB Snowdan and YB Masir Kujat were not invited to the Easter Dinner Organised by PRS Bukit Bangunan ?

(3) Can I say that there is a rift between your fiction (Yourself + YB Mong ) and PRS/PBB group ( Jabu, Donald lawan) ? Can I say that PRS is going into Crisis again ?

PRS Man Selected as BN Candidate For Batang Ai

BN meeting held yesterday, unanimously selected Mussen, who is JJMB nominee and a PRS man as a BN candidate for Batang Ai by election.

JJMB who met outside the meeting room revealed the name of the candidate to the reporters. He was so jovial when met by the reportes outside the meeting room but immediately changed his mood upon realised that J*bu the balls player was looking at him from inside the meeting room.

The PBB supporter who was waiting outside the meeting room and who prefer to be remained anonymous informed the writer that Mussen is going to lose the election thus will loss everything such as his senior position in goverment and also the pension just like what happened to one of Masing nominee during last year election.

Well PKR, you know there is a limbo in BN thus is their weakest point or vulnarability. Attack them at their vulnerable point to subdue them as what Sun Tsu said it :-

" Invincibility lies in one's own hands but the enemy's vulnerability is of his own making. Thus, those skilled in war can make themselves invincible but the enemy's vulnerability is provided only by the enemy himself".

Flashflood In Greenwood Park-Behind Open University Malaysia Regional Campus Sarawak

Flashflood occurred again in Greenwood Park. According to one of the house owner whose house was badly affected by the flood, this evening flashflood is not the first one that had occurred in the housing estate. Few complaints had been made to Majlis Kota Samarahan but fall on deaf ears and no action had been taken by the council so far. When asked about the response from both the members of MP and DUN for P197 Kota Samarahan and N15 Muara Tuang about their complaints , another house owner said that both nephew and uncle (Who are also Tok Uban son and brother) never bother to visit them or responding to their plights.

For Tok Uban, Sarawak is his Kingdom, he can do whatever he wanted to do. Just look at the member of MP and DUN for Kota Samarahan and Muara Tuang..both conquered by his family members.

Next election we must make sure that out Constituencies, both Parliament and DUN do not fall to Tok Uban kingdom by VOTE for PKR...
