PM Najib Visit To USA Last December Was Not Well Recieved By White House?

PM Najib Visit to USA Last December was not well recieved By the White House.

Prime Minister Najib Razak was in Washington DC on 26th December 2009, busy eating nasi lemak and mee goreng as BERNAMA proudly reports. No mention of meetings with State Department, on Capitol Hill, with the White House, or any think tanks. Instead he bragged about 1Malaysia to the choir of Malaysians who have already heard it so many times. He also offered some comments on Malaysia's economy, which according to a recent report is failing to make much progress these days.
No media in US would want to interview him and also no one in US would like to be seen with him. Also at the same time India's Manmohan Singh was in the US and what did Barak Obama do? He went out of his way to charm both Mr. and Mrs. Manmohan Singh in a White House black-tie state dinner. He didn't even notice Najis's presence in the US.Tell me if not the Mongolian girl then what is it that merits being ostracized in the States for Najis? However Barak Obama has placed great respect for the Minister Mentor of that tiny red dot to invite him to the White House in late October for a tete-a-tete with him so that he can pick Harry's brains on what his thoughts are of a changing world and America's role in it.And LKY is no longer the PM of Singapore!....Recieved Through Email
What is the point of a 20 million dollar contract with APCO if our prime minister cannot even get a manufactured speaking slot at the National Press Club? We're not even talking about Brookings or SAIS where one has to have something meaningful to say to be invited. Anyone can speak at the Press Club so long as they can afford the cost of organising the function. Does the concept of 1World not carry much weight in the halls of international diplomacy or in the most powerful city in the world? I guess not.
I think taxpayers should demand to know why, after spending that much money on a DC lobby our prime minister cannot even get an interview on the local news.
On Anwar Ibrahim's recent trip to the United States, in just a few days he held events at Brookings, SAIS (even our US Ambassador attended the function),Georgetown and the Council on Foreign Relations. He met with officials from the House foreign relations committee, the Senate Foreign relations committee, the state department and the White House. His visit covered in the media including the Wall Street Journal, Far Eastern Economic Review and theWashington Post (but not Bernama), Saudi television and ABS-CBN from Manila.
Does the Prime Minister's flimsy schedule have anything to do with the scandal that just won't go away? Not PKFZ. Not the Bukit Antarabangsa slide. Not the collapsed bridge. None other than the Mongolian who we cannot talk about. And in the time it took me to write this, how many new designer bags did the Prime Minister's wife purchase?

Once again thanks you to one of Bukittunggal.com regular reader that sent this information to BukitTunggal.Com.

Perak Mufti Should Slam Fellow Muslim That Threaten Other People Life Than Distrupt Religious Telorance In Malaysia

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
Saturday, 02 January 2010

Danish police late Friday shot and wounded a man close to radical Somali Islamists who tried to enter the Aarhus home of Kurt Westergaard, who drew controversial cartoons of Islam's prophet Mohammed, Danish security sources said.
The Danish cartoonist, who has received several death threats since a Danish newspaper four years ago published his drawing featuring Mohammed wearing a turban in the shape of a bomb, was at home in Viby near the western city of Aarhus when the 27-year-old and two others tried to get in, daily Politiken reported online.
Guards repulsed the three intruders as security alarms were set off, and the wounded man was hospitalised.
Denmark's Ritzau news agency said a dozen police vehicles were at the scene while sappers were sent in to look for a bomb that might have been laid.

Police tightlipped

Contacted by AFP, Jutland police confirmed an incident near the home of the 74-year-old cartoonist but refused to give details pending the release of a statement later.
Westergaard is one of 12 cartoonists whose drawings of the Muslim prophet were first published in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in September 2005, sparking controversy among Muslims worldwide.
The 12 cartoons were considered offensive by many Muslims and their publication sparked violent protests worldwide in January and February 2006.
Demonstrators burned Danish flags in protests that culminated in February 2006 with the torching of Danish diplomatic offices in Damascus and Beirut and dozens of deaths in Nigeria, Libya and Pakistan. - AFP

Perak Mufti Should Slam The Terrorist Acts By Its Fellow Muslim

The mufti who immune From Police Action

Among all the muftis in Malaysia, the mufti of perak is the most controversal and the most unfriendly mufti toward the followers of other faiths. In October 2006, he forwarded the most controversal SMS by claiming that Datuk Azhar Mansor was going to convert 250 muslims to christianity in one of the church in Ipoh. His SMS nearly caused religious unrest in Ipoh whereby hundreds of muslims sorrounded the said church. But no actions were taken by the police against the Perak's mufti.
Being the Mufti who is paid with tax payer monies from the muslim communities and people of the other faiths, his responsibilities should also include to maintain the peaceful environment between muslims and non-muslims in Malaysia. Please avoid this country from becoming another Afganistan or Pakistan by Stopping  your controversal approach!...Bukittunggal
And on 1st January 2009, he was among many muslims that against the high court decision in the usage of word Allah by Catholic Herald. He accused the judge/court did not respect the feeling of the Muslims.
I urge all catholics in Malaysia to make police report agains this mufti for contempt of court. As for the police they should take pro-active action, and  without waiting for the police report. Surprisingly despite so many controversies being made by this mufti, but the state of Perak still retain him and no action by the police.
Being the member of PAKATAN RAKYAT myself, I urge all the muslim clerics/schoolars in PAKATAN RAKYAT to come forward and condemn this racist mufti.

Special New Year Greetings From Barisan Nasional Government

This year Malaysians will need to spent extra monies from their incomes , as Barisan Nasional government had announced the increase on price of certain items in 2010. The items which prices had been increased with effect from 1st January 2010 are :-

  1.  Sugar. The price of sugar has been increased for 20 sens per kilogram. Before the increase, the price of sugar in Peninsular per kilogram was at RM 1.45 and RM 1.55 in Sabah and Sarawak. According to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Zain Mohd Dom, who made the announcement, said the increase in the sugar price was necessitated by the rise in the price of raw sugar in the world market, and that the government still subsidised the price at 80 sen per kg or RM1.008 billion for the year.
  2. White Bread. The government also announced that it withdrew its subsidy on white bread and removed the commodity from the price control scheme.
  3. Cigarette Minimum Price Regulation. With effect from 1st January 2010, the smokers will need to pay more on their cigarettes as BN government had came up with the minimum price for cigarettes regulation. With this regulation, a minimum price for 20s cigarette will be sold at RM 6.20.
  4. Credit Card Service Tax. Card holders will need to pay RM50 credit card service tax on all principal credit card and RM25 for every supplementary card. The tax according to BN government was to discourage unwise spending by card users.
  5. Government decision to increase the price of sugar, white bread and cigarettes, and the introduction  of Credit Card Service Tax will have serious consequences on the public especially the lower income group.
Plights by some Iban in the Longhouse

My recent visit to Kampong Empaling and Kampong Tekuyong, both are under P202 and N25, when told about the price increase on certain items that affect them such as  the price of sugar and cigarettes, most of them were not happy with the government.
According to them, in 2008 when the government increased the price of petrol, most of  the price of  the items were shoot-up. The effort by the government to reduce the  price  of petrol in the same year did not help much as its did not bring down the price of  the items.
Their village heads, TR Ngulu and TR Jawan also informed Bukittunggal that most of the subsidies promised by BN government such as the subsidies for petrol and diesel for their generators,  and the rice subsidy until now has not reached them. They added with the new price increases announced by the government it will affect the life of people in the longhouses badly.

My Advice To the Voters in the Longhouses.

PM Najib slogan "“1Malaysia. People First. Performance Now” " is just a rethoric. So far,  he and BN government have done nothing in helping the people.
Enough is Enough. The people of the longhouses must supports the PAKATAN RAKYAT in the coming State Election.

Court Says Catholic Herald Can Use Word Allah

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31

It will be a glorious new year for some 850,000 Catholics in Malaysia.
In a landmark ruling today, the High Court here lifted the home minister’s ban against the Catholic church publishing the word “Allah” to refer to the Christian God in its weekly paper, Herald.
Counsel for the Herald, Porres Royan, told reporters, “The court has granted the declaration that the applicant has the Constitutional right to use the word Allah. I believe the ministry is bound by the court’s decision.”
Royan’s fellow lawyer for the church, Benjamin Dawson, explained the impact of today’s judgment in greater detail to the press.
“There are two points to today’s order. Firstly, the court set aside the decision of the minister in imposing the prohibition on using the word ‘Allah’ in Herald.
“The second part of the order made by the court declares the width and breadth of the constitutional provisions, namely Articles 3, 11 and 12 and ruled that in light of these constitutional guarantees, the minister had acted unconstitutionally in imposing such conditions,” Dawson said.
Article 3 of the Federal Constitution states that Islam is the official religion of the country but taken together with Articles 11 and 12, protects the rights of the minorities to be free to practice and be educated in their respective religions.
In short, the Herald does not need to go to court every year to fight for the right to publish the word “Allah”. The publishing permit for the Herald expires today.
Senior Federal counsel Datuk Kamaludin Md Said said, “I was made to understand the ministry has already issued the permit for 2010.”
He added that he will consult the ministry for new instruction, when asked about his next course of action.
The government had said that the ban was necessary to avoid confusing the majority Muslims in the country. Islam is the official religion in Malaysia.
But the church claimed the ban violates its constitutional rights to practice its religion freely.
According to Father Lawrence Andrew (picture) who edits Herald, the term “Allah” has been used by Christians in the region to refer to their God since four hundred years ago. He added that it is still actively used today.
Lawrence explained that “Allah” in the Christian context refers specifically to “God the Father”, which is different from how Muslims use it.
Herald’s editor claims the use of the word has not died out and is still being used in church worship among indigenous East Malaysians, who form a substantial number of the Christian faithful in the country.
According to the last census last carried out in Sarawak three years ago, 43 per cent of its population is Christian. In Sabah, the figure is close to 2.45 million, based on the state’s last census in 2000.
But Fr Lawrence believes the official figures may not be accurate. He thinks the number of Christians in East Malaysia are higher, especially in Sarawak, which he puts the Christian community to be about half the state’s population.
The church first took the government to court last year after the home ministry threatened to revoke its annual publishing permit for Herald, Malaysia’s only Catholic paper.
It was forced to refresh its suit again this year after its 2008 permit expired without any decision from the court.
While today’s judgment may renew the faith of Christians nationwide, Dawson cautioned that there was still a long way to go to fully restore the faith of other Malaysians in the country’s justice system.
“We’re grateful for the court’s decision today. At the same time, we’re disappointed with the lack of political will on the part of the government to deal with issues of this nature,” Dawson told The Malaysian Insider.
“In recent years, people from minority religions were forced to go to court to protect their constitutional rights,” he pointed out, listing several religious conversion and burial tussles, such as the Lina Joy, Subashini, Shamala and Moorthy cases as examples.
“How do we promote religious unity in our country?” he quizzed. “Surely not by going to court.”
Dawson pressed the government to set up an inter-faith commission to resolve inter-religious disputes.
“We can’t continue to live at odds with each other,” Dawson stressed.

UMNO Responses to Court Decision - Its Real Colour Prevails

One of Umno’s known hawks, Pasir Salak MP Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, lambasted the High Court judgment on the ‘Allah’ case today, saying that it would not solve anything but only ignite racial and religious tension.
The High Court today lifted the home minister’s ban against the Catholic church from publishing the word “Allah” to refer to the Christian God in its weekly paper, Herald.
The landmark decision may be of joy for some 850,000 Catholics in the country but for Tajuddin, the suit itself, filed by Herald’s lawyers, is an act of provocation.
“What is their motive (for the suit) ? Why all of a sudden they want to use the word Allah when all this while they have been using the term God?
“This is definitely provocation, they are just using all this human rights, religious rights as excuses. This is sensitive to the Muslims and this will create racial and religious tension,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
The controversy over the word “Allah” has stirred huge debate among Christians and Muslims alike in Malaysia and attracted international attention as well.
The Home Minister, who controls giving the annual mandatory publishing permits in the country, had banned the church from using the word “Allah” outside the Muslim context.
Let all Malaysians judge this racist party. They instigate the people to react against court decision. But I am not surprise that court of appeal will turn around the High Court decision in first week of this new year. To catholic Heralds be prepared..your fight is not end yet!...Bukittunggal
But some have questioned if there can be a copyright over the word “Allah”, which Muslim representatives here say is a special word reserved to refer to the Muslim God, meaning “the one and only Almighty”.The act of questioning the exclusivity of the word “Allah” for Muslims said Tajuddin is a clear indicator that “certain quarters” have become “bolder”.
“They have dared to do these things because the Muslims have been soft..but if you put some one in a corner, they will bounce back,” lamented the Pasir Salak MP.
“What the High Court thinks is right, may not necessarily be right outside (the court),” he added.
Meanwhile PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said Muslims must respect the decision of the High Court and remain calm.
“We must not be hasty and jump to conclusions. We should let the religious authorities to decide on its next course of action,” he said.
Asked if he agreed with the decision, Mahfuz ignored the question and reiterated that the country’s Muslims must respect the High Court decision and allow the religious authority to decide on its next course of action.
Though it is unclear if the Home Minister will seek to reverse the decision through the Appellate Court but he is likely to do so given the sensitivity of the issue.

Breaking News-Tok Mat Malaysia Ex-Information Minister Mahathir Era Passes Away

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1

Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat, the controversial government strategist and propagandist, died this morning. He was 71.
Tok Mat, as he was known by all, was Minister of Information for two terms; from 1978-1982 and 1987-1999, during which time he produced many patriotic songs like "Setia" which was very often sung together with "Negaraku" during school assemblies.
He also served as Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia from 1982 to 1987.
He wrote a book "Umno: Akhir Sebuah Impian", which was launched in October, which he called a "teaser of more to come". Many thought it would be a tell-all book, detailing what went on in Umno and how he created and managed his many "propaganda" campaigns.
Tok Mat is Malaysia most popular and powerful Information Minister. He managed to counter Mahathir dictatorship labelled by the wests
Many had hoped the book would spill the beans on his relationship with former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. In fact, some detractors were sure "Umno: Akhir Sebuah Impian" would be a hatchet job against Dr Mahathir as the relationship between the two men in the last few years had been tense.
But ever the gentleman, Tok Mat said at the book launch he had no quarrel with the fourth prime minister. He said then that he wrote the book because of love. Love for the party and love for the country.
A patriot to the end, Tok Mat had been in frail health for years and feistily referred to the last few months as "borrowed time".
He will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery here after Asar prayers today.
The public can pay their last respects at his house at 42 Jalan Setiajaya, Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.

US Will Not Punish Malaysia Over J85-GE-21 Jet Engines Missing Blunder

Thursday, December 31st, 2009
Petaling Jaya

The United States is not expected to punish Malaysia over the F5 jet components-for-sale racket.
Local defence industry sources told The Malay Mail it was unlikely the US would impose any action against Malaysia as the sale of the components was done illegally.

OLD BUT WORTHY: This RMAF Tigereye reconnaissance plane was put on show at Lima 2009

Two J85-GE-21 jet engines that power the F-5 fighters were stolen from two Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) facilities in 2007 while some components from the same planes were also unaccounted for.
"It is not as if the Malaysian government had sanctioned the deal. We may be told through diplomatic channels to tighten up security at our military facilities but it is unlikely that it will effect ties between our countries," a source said.
Furthermore, the items stolen were considered old technology and did not involve weapons.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday the report on the stolen F5 components, including the two J85-GE-21 engines, would be forwarded to the US.
It would be handed to the US authorities through the Malaysian ambassador to the US, Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis.
The two jet engines were reportedly stolen in June and November, 2007. The theft of the engines and and other components from the jets, worth millions of ringgit, were discovered in late 2007, following an internal audit carried out by the RMAF top brass. However, the air force only made a police report on this in August last year.
The Malay Mail had reported that some personnel implicated in the F5 jet components for sale racket had allegedly accepted RM200 "to look the other way" when the components were taken out from the Sungai Besi air base.
The personnel were bribed by a man working for a local aviation company, described as the mastermind of the racket.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.
It was believed that RMAF personnel working with the mastermind had sent the engines and other components to a neighbouring country by declaring that the equipment needed to be repaired abroad.
Once the components arrived in the neighbouring country, they were sold to international arms dealers by the mastermind's accomplice.
RMAF began operating the F5s in 1974. In 1999, the air force replaced the aircraft with MiG-29N and F/A-18D jets. However in 2003, the F5s, then aged 29 years in the RMAF inventory, were re-activated as training and reconnaissance aircraft to meet current needs.
At least seven F5s remain in service, three single-seat F5E Tiger II fighters, two RF-5E Tigereye reconnaissance planes and two twin-seater F5F trainers.

RTM DG Dares Penang CM To Make Police Report

Radio Television Malaysia director-general Datuk Ibrahim Yahya is playing down a threat to send him to prison for his comments in his blog, Dunia Tiger.
Ibrahim, popularly known in media circles by his nickname "Tiger", told The Malay Mail this morning that he would not act on the threat.

Ibrahim Yahya  Who Paid By Rakyat Taxes But Plays Politic

"I will leave it at that for the moment... I do not wish to speak more on the matter," he said.
Asked if he had lodged a police report, the former chief news editor of Berita Harian said he has no intention to do so and would confine his comments to his posting.
"Everything is there in my blog," he said.
I dare this Government officer to step down and play active politic..Bukittunggal
Ibrahim wrote in his posting on Dec 26 that someone had threatened to send him to prison for the rest of his natural life for his comments on DAP in his blog.
It is believed the threat came as a reaction to two recent postings, "Kerana Mulut Badan Binasa" on Dec 25 about Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's claim that Teoh Beng Hock had been murdered and "DAP Semakin Galak Serang Melayu" a day earlier.
Responding to the threat, Ibrahim fired back in his blog that he was prepared to go to jail to defend his rights and the special place of the Malays in this country.
Defending his comments on Lim Guan Eng and the DAP, Ibrahim said he was not a racist for merely defending the rights of the Malays.
Excerpts of the threats, reproduced in his blog, warned Ibrahim not to use RTM for his own agenda and to be fair in his news broadcasts.
Lim is under police investigation for sedition over remarks he made on Teoh's death.

Sick Kelantan Sultan Controversal Romance In A Hospital In Singapore

The King and I...Sultan Kelantan With His Second Wife

Kuala Lumpur
Monday, December 28th, 2009

One of the two women brought into the royal suite at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore is the second wife of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra, it has been revealed.
A source close to the Kelantan palace confirmed this morning that the Sultan's second wife and her personal assistant had visited the ailing ruler.
The clarification quells suggestions of hanky-panky as a bodyguard of the Kelantan Raja Perempuan, Mohd Fadzli Awang, had alleged in his police report that the unknown women were sneaked into the ward after the video surveillance camera was covered with newspaper.
He had claimed that a bodyguard had brought the women before leaving the royal suite.
Mohd Fadzli had claimed that the same guard had returned with two men, one believed to be a Malaysian police inspector. The guard and the police officer, he had claimed in his report, waited outside the ward.
“The parties concerned then left the ward about two hours later. It is unknown what their intention was by coming to the ward at that hour,” he had claimed.
Mohd Fadzli Awang had also said the Sultan’s third son, Tengku Temenggong Tengku Muhammad Fakhry, had ordered him to lodge a report for police to investigate and take appropriate action against the intruders.
The clarification on the women's status came after a Press statement, allegedly from the Sultan's second wife, was circulated via e-mail to the media, including The Malay Mail, this morning.
In the statement, accompanied by copies of the marriage certificate and marriage card, the sender claiming to be the Sultan's second wife claimed that she had decided to clear the air after allegations of hanky-panky had surfaced from her visit.
The email sender, known as Elia Suhana Ahmad, claimed that only a handful were privy about the marriage between her and Sultan Ismail.
Apa la nak susahkan orang yang sakit macam tu.. Klau dia dah sah nikah, itu isteri dia dan dia ada hak nak jumpa suami dia. Ngapa lak nak halang ?? Sebab malu ? sebab harta ? Apa la sangat harta tu ?? Kan Allah dah bagi rezeki kat semua makhluk dia, kalau tak cukup minta la lagi kat Allah.. Sebab malu ? kena tanya diri sendiri la, ngapa suami nk bernikah satu lagi ? Pasal malu keluar surat khabar ni tak pe juga nanti nak berjawab kemudian hari macam mana ? Pikir-pikir kan lah.... Comment by Anonymous
She claimed that her wedding had been witnessed by family members as well as Kelantan's State officials on Dec 23, 2007. A picture of her, the Sultan and an elderly couple also accompanied her email.
Elia claimed that the earlier reports had taken a negative slant and she was obliged to clarify the issue to ensure that the Kelantan monarch would not be mocked and the role of the police not misunderstood.
It had been reported that a royal guard had allegedly brought in two unknown women at 4.20am on Oct 8.
It had also been reported that some 20 royal guards, allegedly police personnel, had also besieged the ward and insulted the Raja Perempuan Kelantan, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid.
lt was learnt that personal security officers of the Raja Perempuan had lodged five reports of alleged misconduct by Kelantan police personnel between October and November at the hospital.
Kelantan police chief SAC 1 Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi had declined comment since the police report was lodged in Singapore.

Giving Opinion but Intepreted By the Police As Giving Instruction !

Aliran is appalled by the statement of Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar claiming that the Sri Kembangan state assembly member Ean Yong Hian Wah had intimidated the police when he called on them to stop their investigation of DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng, for alleged sedition.
It is difficult to understand how a request or a demand to stop their investigation of Lim Guan Eng - in what is interpreted by the police as sedition - can be construed as directing the police to cease their investigation of Guan Eng. What authority does Ean Yong have to directthe police? Or are they recognising that he has such powers to do so? He has no such powers. Why then does Khalid claim that the police weredirected by Ean Yong to desist from their investigation?
On what basis does Khalid state, "I wish to stress that the honourable member should not try to intimidate us … .” Irrespective of whether it was a request or a demand in wanting the police not to investigate Guan Eng, in what way does that constitute intimidation?
"I would like to emphasize here that being a state exco member, I've no power to give instruction to the police. Only the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affair have the power to give instruction to the police"..Ean Yong Hian

Political Motivated statement!

Is Khalid claiming that the police were indeed intimidated by Ean Yong’s statement? Is he admitting that the police indeed felt intimidated by Ean Yong? Imagine that one lonely voice can intimidate the entire police force! This is stretching absurdity to the extreme! This is doing violence to the word.
Does the Home Minister, Hishamuddin Tun Hussein Onn, who is in charge of the police force agree with this ridiculous interpretation?
Khalid’s statement has serious repercussions on civil society. If civil society were to tell the police not to accept bribes or urge the police not to be cruel to the detainees or ask the police to be even handed when dealing with dissidents, would that now be interpreted as a directive and therefore having the effect of intimidation?
On a more serious note, if the police are so easily intimidated by a mere statement, how are they going to ensure our safety on a daily basis when the crime rate has soared to frightening levels? There are so many criminals running around killing and raping, snatching bags and valuables from pedestrians on the street, putting us in fear for our own well-being; how then are the police going to cope with this intimidating environment that we live in?
The police should direct their attention to solving serious crime in the country instead of going after the Opposition. Their conduct with regard to the Opposition is becoming very blatant. People are troubled by this and are disappointed with the police.
