1Malaysia Rakyat Disangsarakan Harga Gula Dinaikkan!

Kuching
Monday, 9th May 2011

Saya tahu bahawa rakyat Malaysia mudah lupa.

In Defending Christianity I Salute Bernard Dompok, But To Jabu and Masing Please Pack Your Bag You Have no Place In Politic

Kuching
Monday, 9th May 2011

Bernard Dompok is always infront when come to defending Christianity from extremist Malays compared to the other Minister of  the Christian faith such as Masing and Alfred Jabu. In the "Allah" row he was also the  first to defend defend Christian interest. But where were Jabu and Masing. Both of them seem to be very coward or in Iban "ngeleput pala b*tuh"...Are they really coward?

Being the peace loving Malaysian, I felt disturb to find that UMNO the main political parties under BN failure to take immediate action to mitigate racial tension as a result of irresponsible act by Utusan Malaysia for publishing the most intimidate article on it Saturday, 7th May 2011 edition.

So far no minister from the BN component parties had came forward to condemn Utusan Malaysia irresponsible act until this minister from Sabah, Datuk Bernard Dompok came forward and lashed at Utusan Malaysia.
Bernard Dompok as quoted in Malaysiakini said :-

How can a national newspaper like Utusan Malaysia can afford to publish and sensationalize such news written by a blog without  first check it credibility? This is really an irresponsible act by Utusan Malaysia!
But where are Jabu and Masing the two "jaguh kampong" from Sarawak??? Agi Ngeleput P*lir?

Let Chop Off Blogger Zakhir Mohamed aka Big Dog's No Brain Head

Kuching
Monday,9th May 2011

This blogger doesn't deserve to live in Malaysia with his spoil brain. Peace loving Malaysians must eliminate him from Malaysia and send him to Seychelles Island.

Whenever there is any Conspiracy and racial slur, The People behind it must be those who have link   with Mahathir ..Mahathir is out to destroy Malaysia and PM Najib!

Last Saturday upon reading an article wrote in Utusan Malaysia I was so angry with the article entitled "Kristian Agama Rasmi?". At first I could not believed with what I read. Even the Primary six student knows that Christianity cannot be the official religion of Malaysia due to the fact that majority of Malaysian are Malay/Muslim. Christians only count about 9% of Malaysia total population.
But after reading in Malaysian Chronicles this afternoon about the blogger that spread the romour than I realised that this blogger "Fat Dog" is the stupid person,a person with a body of man but the brain of pig..stupid like hell.
The police should take action against this blogger and Utusan malaysia before it anger the East Malaysia Christians.
To all the Christian leaders especially Masing. Jabu. Pairin Kitingan and Benard Dompok..Wake up all of you and be heard!

Archbishop Murphy Nicholas Pakiam Urges the Authority To Investigate Utusan Malaysia on 'insidious' and 'malicious' lies

Kuching
Sunday, 8th May 2011

Yesterday www.Bukittunggal.com published an article condemn Utusan Malaysia over its article entitled "Kristian Agama Rasmi Malaysia?".In the article Bukittunggal urged the government to ban Utusan Malaysia to avoid any religious tension in Malaysia. Since 2008 election, Utusan Malaysia has been published articles to portray that Malay and Muslims are under threat.
Today the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur denied the allegation made by Utusan Malaysia and urged the government to probe Utusan Malaysia. Please see the full article published in Malaysia Chronicles today.

Take Action Against Utusan Malaysia for its Irresponsible Reports
Urges Archbishop Murphy Nicholas Pakiam

Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Murphy Nicholas Pakiam, has slammed reports alleging a conspiracy to turn the country into a Christian state.

Describing the reports as “irresponsible, baseless and provocative”, Pakiam demanded that the authorities take action against what it said were quarters that seek to threaten the harmonious, multi-cultural and multi-religious make-up of the country.

A “thorough investigation” into the matter should be made to determine the source of these “insidious, provocative and malicious lies” and take action against those behind it, said Pakiam in a statement.

He was responding to the blog postings, on which an Utusan Malaysia report was based, accusing DAP of colluding with Christian pastors to make Christianity the country's official religion so that a Christian can become prime minister.

We've never been treasonous, hateful

Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi was named in the blog postings as the DAP leader who attended the meeting and joined the prayer session with the pastors, who were reportedly attending a mega-ceramah at the Catholic Christian Centre in Penang on Saturday.

“On behalf of the Catholic Bishops of Malaysia, I would like to categorically refute the allegation that such a meeting had taken place or will take place in a Catholic venue in Penang,

“It is clear that this reporting is baseless and highly irresponsible as the reporters and editors of the above newspaper have not taken any reasonable steps whatsoever to verify the allegations made by anonymous bloggers.

“Furthermore, this report comes after the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF), one of the organizers of the above meeting, having refuted the claims of those bloggers and the same was carried on online media.

“The NECF has further clarified that this meeting only covered the topic of ethical leadership and had no treasonous agenda as alleged by the bloggers and news report,” said Pakiam.

Pakiam said Christian authorities teach the community to be God-fearing and law-abiding citizens and conscientious decision-makers “based on justice which is reflective of moral and divine laws.”

Even in the Al-Kitab issue over which the Christian Federation of Malaysia has been in dispute with the government, Church leaders had always reiterated their commitment and readiness “to dialogue and work together with the government” and all parties for a just and reasonable solution.

“It is clear that our position has never been treasonous nor have we advocated hatred, antagonism or animosity towards any religion or groups of persons,” said Pakiam.

“I continue to call upon all Catholics, Christians and all Malaysians to pray, dialogue and work together to strengthen national unity and harmony. May God bless our leaders with a firm vision and the courage and strength to uphold and realise it.”

Kristian Agama Rasmi:Kerajaan Digesa Kenakan Tindakan Terhadap Utusan Malaysia

Kuching
Sabtu, 7 Mei 2011

Bolehkah Kristian Dijadikan Agama Rasmi  Malaysia?

Kerajaan Jangan Berat Sebelah

Najib Uses Police to Slander Anwar

Kuching
Wednesday, 4th May 2011

Instead of giving lecture on National Security Abdul Rahman Ismail  gave lectures on Anwar Sodomy Case and Accused Anwar of guilty in the sex video...PKR vice president Azmin Ali has exposed BN Dirty Tactic

Azmin Ali has revealed that the senior police officer from Bukit Aman had been used by Najib to give lectures to more than 2000 principals and teachers in Kelantan.
Azmin revealed that the police has been identified as Senior Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahman Ismail from Bukit Aman. He was supposed to give lectures on national security but most of his lectures were elaborating on the sex and pornographic involved Anwar and the Memali incident. Other than that Abdul Rahman had also judged and informed the participants that Anwar was a sodomist and a man who went after prostitutes.

Being the ex-army senior officer, I felt ashamed with the behaviour of this so called the senior officer who was paid with people money but explicitly will do whatever it takes for Najib Razak. If the accusation is true, this government servant should resign immediately.

I didn't blame the IGP as has no power to control his officers. The Alantuya murdered proofed that the SB or officer from Bukit Aman may had recieved directive from this country highest echelon.

Pakatan Rakyat should establish rapport with military since they are seen more incline toward PR. And as for this senior officer if evident is sufficient, police report should be lodged immediately. And if the police fail to take action, he should be sued in court of law.

Masing Rewarding The Longhouses That Voted For Him Is Tantamount To Vote Buying and Misused Of Government Coffers

Kuching
Tuesday,3rd May 2011

Hi EC and MACC..Wake Up Will All of You. Was this not Vote Buying and Misused Of Government Coffers?

This is one of the reason why the Iban easily marginalised by BN. Just imagine how the rest of the longhouses that did not vote for him felt. Yes they felt humiliated and ashamed of themselves. The Iban in Baleh particularly the longhouses that were not rewarded should teach him the lesson. Remember that he receives his YB allowance to represent all the people of Baleh and not only those who voted for him!

Throughout my entire life today is the first time that I came across where a political leader rewards  the people that voted for him with money and vase . But this was happened in Baleh and done by one of the most stupid Iban minister, Dr (aha...)Jemut ak Masing. This minister in the mid-80's, I admired him so much this was due to the way how he bravely defended the interests of the Iban particularly their NCR lands alongside Datuk Seri Daniel Tajem from Taib Mahmud and his cronies. But today he is no longer fit himself as the Iban leader but is more qualified as one of the most disgrace Iban leader alongside Jabu Numpang.

In Kapit last night, PRS organised the appreciation dinner for the longhouses in Baleh (N56-Baleh) that  strongly supported him based on the highest number of votes for the BN and having the least votes for Pakatan Rakyat (PKR) during the just concluded 10th Sarawak State Election.

Which Long houses Won the Contest? Be Warned You  Have Been Bought By Masing!

During the dinner, the best long houses that strongly supported the BN went to Polling Station/Team No.17, covering Rumah Mansai, Rumah Unggat and Rumah Pioh at Sungai Majau, the birth place of Masing. The three longhouses records 175 votes for BN with one vote for PKR. Second placing went to polling Station/Team No. 27, covering Rumah Mawang at Nanga Senuang and Rumah Wong at Telok Buing came in second place. The two longhouses recorded 97 votes for BN and a single vote for PKR. The third best went to  the long house of Rumah Barang that has a clean record with all 75 voters from the said long houses voted for BN. And the fourth placing was won by  long houses under Polling Station/Team No.1 namely Rumah Ngiang, Rumah Ajai, Rumah Anchi  and Rumah Robin Bungkong from Sungai Majau. The longhouses recorded 175 votes for BN and 2 votes for PKR.
All the winners were awarded with RM 5000, RM 3000, RM 2500 and RM2000 respectively,  while each of the ‘Tuai Rumah’ was given a vase respectively.
The long houses that had voted for Masing with bigger majority had been rewarded with money. What about the rest of the long houses that exercised their rights according to their wishes and not voted for Masing ? Will they be also deprived of the government funds? And another point which we need to consider is the source of the money  for the rewards came from? MACC should take action pro-actively and not waiting until someone blows the trumpet.

Masing Must Learn What It Takes As A Good Leader

If someone has to be blamed for Taib Mahmud marginality of the Iban, Masing is the top person on the list. Voting  is supposed to be the right of every citizen. He/she may choose whose ever person  that he/she felt is the right candidate for him/her. Giving  rewards to those who voted for him with any form of rewards what to say if the money came from the government coffers is tantamount to misuse of government funds thus should dealt accordingly. Not recognising or deprive those who did not vote for you during the election from any government projects or funds is not suppose to be done by any good leader. We know that you are not a good leader what to say qualified as the "Iban Paramount Leader" but it still not to late for you to learn what it need to be a good leader. You must learn to accept the fact that not many people in Baleh like you. But it is not their problem. It is yours. Being a leader you must a way how to win their hearts and make them like you. Deprived and sideline them will make the matter worst.
Another fact that you need to accept whether you like it or not is that you are being paid by the tax payer money thus you must serve everyone (those who voted or did not vote for you) in N56-Baleh.
To the PRS and to you Masing, please do not over joys. Pakatan Rakyat is getting stronger and stronger  especially with the DAP and SNAP planned merger. If you dont change your behaviour you and your party may lose miserably in the coming Parliament or State election.

Osama Bin Laden Wishes Had Just Came True: He Was Sent To His "Heaven" By The American Troop

Kuching
Monday, 2nd May 2011

American soldiers that killed Osma bin laden in Pakistan might won the earthly battle but for this world most wanted terrorist,  the American soldiers had just sent him to heaven. For Osama and his followers he will be presented with wine and also be sorrounded by virgins. To the American, don't be overjoy as your battle had just begun. After this many more Osama bin Laden will arise !

Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed thousands of Americans, was slain in his luxury hideout in Pakistan early Monday in a firefight with U.S. forces, ending a manhunt that spanned a frustrating decade.
"Justice has been done," President Barack Obama declared as crowds formed outside the White House to celebrate. Many sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "We Are the Champions," NBC News reported.
Hundreds more waved American flags at ground zero in New York — where the twin towers that once stood as symbols of American economic power were brought down by bin Laden's hijackers 10 years ago.
Bin Laden, 54, was killed after a gun battle with Navy SEALs and CIA paramilitary forces at a compound in the city of Abbottabad. He was shot in the head, NBC News reported.
Citing a U.S. official, NBC News said that bin Laden opened fire on the American forces before he was killed.

DNA tests

The special operations forces were on the ground for less than 40 minutes and the operation was watched in real-time by CIA director Leon Panetta and other intelligence officials in a conference room at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, an official said on condition of anonymity.
The team returned to Afghanistan with bin Laden's body, U.S. officials said. NBC News reported that bin Laden was later buried at sea.
Islamic tradition calls for a body to be buried within 24 hours, but finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, a senior administration official said.
The U.S. was conducting DNA testing and used facial recognition techniques to help formally identify him, Reuters reported.
Results of the DNA tests were expected to be available in the next few days.
Other U.S. officials said one of bin Laden's sons and two of his most trusted couriers also were killed, as was an unidentified woman who was used as a human shield.
Al Arabiya TV reported that two of bin Laden's wives and four of his children were also captured during the operation.
"When word came in that the operation was a success, CIA officials in the conference room had a rather large applause,"
a U.S. official said.

NBC News reported that intelligence officials weren't certain that bin Laden would be at the site as there was "no smoking gun that put him there."
Bin Laden was holed up in a two-story house 100 yards from a Pakistani military academy when four helicopters carrying U.S. forces swooped in , leaving his final hiding place in flames, Pakistani officials and a witness said.
They said bin Laden's guards opened fire from the roof of the compound and one of the choppers crashed. It was later destroyed by the U.S. team. U.S. officials said no Americans were hurt in the operation.
Abbottabad is home to three Pakistan army regiments and thousands of military personnel and is dotted with military buildings. BBC News described the army site as the country's equivalent to West Point.
The discovery that bin Laden was living in an army town in Pakistan raises pointed questions about how he managed to evade capture and even whether Pakistan's military and intelligence leadership knew of his whereabouts and sheltered him.
The news of bin Laden's death immediately raised concerns that reprisal attacks from al-Qaida and other Islamist extremist groups could follow soon.
"In the wake of this operation, there may be a heightened threat to the U.S. homeland," a U.S. official said. "The U.S. is taking every possible precaution. The State Department has sent advisories to embassies worldwide and has issued a travel ban for Pakistan."
Police in New York, site of the deadliest attack on Sept. 11, said they had already begun to "ramp up" security on their own.
Other local law enforcement agencies around the U.S. are adding extra security measures out of "an abundance of caution," according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The agency said the extra police were not a response to a specific threat and facilities would operate normally.
In Los Angeles, police said they were stepping up intelligence monitoring and in Philadelphia, a lieutenant said police were checking mosques and synagogues every hour.
'Momentous achievement'
Charles Wolf of New York, whose wife, Katherine, died on Sept, 11, 2001, rejoiced at the news, which he called "wonderful."
"I am really glad that man's evil is off this earth forever," Wolf said. "I am just very glad that they got him."
Former President George W. Bush said in a statement that he had personally been informed by Obama of the death of the terrorist leader whose attacks forever defined his eight years in office.
"This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001," the former president said.
"The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done."
Obama echoed his predecessor, declaring that "the death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation's struggle to defeat al-Qaida."
But he stressed that the effort against the organization continues. Al-Qaida remains in existence as an organization, presumably under the leadership of Ayman al-Zawahiri, 59, an Egyptian physician who is widely believed to have been bin Laden's No. 2.
"We must and we will remain vigilant at home and abroad," Obama said, while emphasizing that "the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam."
'Affluent suburb'
Officials had long believed that bin Laden was hiding a mountainous region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In August, U.S. intelligence officials got a tip on his whereabouts, which led to the operation that culminated Sunday, Obama said.
By mid-February, information developed that made U.S. officials confident that the information was sound.
In mid-March, Obama headed five National Security Council meetings on the subject. Friday morning, he gave the final order to carry out the attack on a compound in what was described as an "affluent suburb" of Islamabad.
"The bottom line of our collection and analysis was that we had high confidence that the compound held a high-value terrorist target," a senior official said, with a "strong probability" that it was bin Laden.

"It is also noteworthy that the property is valued at approximately $1 million but has no telephone or Internet service connected to it," an administration official added.
Bin Laden's compound was huge and "extraordinarily unique," about eight times larger than other homes in the area, U.S. officials said.
Few windows of the three-story home faced the outside of the compound, and other intense security measures included 12- to 18-foot outer walls topped with barbed wire and internal walls that sectioned off different parts of the compound, officials said.
They said the compound was isolated by 12-foot walls, with access restricted by two security gates. Residents in the compound burned their trash, rather than leaving it for collection as did their neighbors, officials said.
The sound of at least two explosions rocked Abbottabad as the fighting raged.
"After midnight, a large number of commandos encircled the compound. Three helicopters were hovering overhead. All of a sudden there was firing toward the helicopters from the ground," said Nasir Khan, a resident of the town.
"There was intense firing and then I saw one of the helicopters crash," said Khan, who had watched the dramatic scene unfold from his rooftop.
Resident Sahibzada Salahuddin said he was asleep when explosions woke him.
"I was sleeping when all of a sudden there was a blast. It was followed by two more small blasts ... I opened the door and saw the entire compound was on fire," he said.

The role of Pakistan, with which Washington has had a difficult relationship for years, remained unclear. A senior Pakistani intelligence official told NBC News that Pakistani special forces took part in the operation, but senior U.S. and Pakistani officials said Pakistan was not informed of the attack in advance.
Pakistan's first official statement about the operation Monday said the death of bin Laden showed the resolve of Pakistan and the world to battle terrorism, and that it was "a major setback to terrorist organizations around the world."
"This operation was conducted by the U.S. forces in accordance with declared U.S. policy that Osama bin Laden will be eliminated in a direct action by the U.S. forces, wherever found in the world," the statement from Pakistan's foreign ministry statement said.
Critics have long accused elements of Pakistan's security establishment of protecting bin Laden, though Islamabad has always denied this.
Earlier, a senior adviser to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari told NBC News that the politician was expected to make an "extremely positive" statement later Monday because bin Laden was "an enemy of the Pakistani people."
Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai, meanwhile, argued that the strike proved the real fight against terrorists was outside his country's borders.
"For years we have said that the fight against terrorism is not in Afghan villages and houses," Karzai said. "It is in safe havens, and today that was shown to be true."
He offered his appreciation to international and Afghan forces who have lost their lives in the nearly 10-year war in Afghanistan and expressed hope that bin Laden's death could mean the end of terrorism. But he said now is the time to stop assaults that endanger or harass Afghan civilians.
Karzai pledged, however, that Afghanistan stands ready to do its part to help fight terrorists and extremists.
"We are with you and we are your allies," he said, noting that many Afghans had died because of bin Laden's terror network.
'I'm completely numb'
Reaction to the news of bin Laden's death was swift.
Bonnie McEneaney, 57, whose husband, Eamon, died in the 9/11 attacks, said the death of bin Laden was "long overdue."
"It doesn't bring back all the wonderful people who were killed 10 years ago," McEneaney told msnbc.com by phone from her home in New Canaan, Conn.
"I'm completely numb. I'm stunned," she said.
"The first thought I had in my mind was that it didn't bring my son back," Jack Lynch, who lost his son, New York City firefighter Michael Francis Lynch, on Sept. 11, 2001, told msnbc.com.
"You cut the head off a snake, you'd think it would kill the snake. But someone will take his place," Lynch said. "But people like him still exist. The fact that he's gone is not going to stop terrorism."
Lynch, 75, is a retired transit worker. His family's charity, the Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation, has made grants to send dozens of students to college. He said he would not celebrate bin Laden's death.
"I understand that bin Laden was an evil person. He may have believed in what he was doing. I'm not going to judge him," Lynch said. "I'm sure some people will look at this and they'll be gratified that he's dead, but me personally, I'm going to leave his fate in God's hands."
U.S. officials who have been entrenched in the battle against al-Qaida for years were more jubilant.

2012 presidential candidates react

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Obama's opponent in the 2008 election, said he was "overjoyed that we finally got the world's top terrorist."
"The world is a better and more just place now that Osama bin Laden is no longer in it," McCain said in a statement. "I hope the families of the victims of the September 11 attacks will sleep easier tonight and every night hence knowing that justice has been done."
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, said that "today, the American people have seen justice."
"In 2001, President Bush said 'we will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.' President Bush deserves great credit for putting action behind those words," King said in a statement. "President Obama deserves equal credit for his resolve in this long war against al-Qaida."
Al-Qaida has bedeviled U.S. presidents going back to the Clinton administration. Besides the Sept. 11 attacks, the organization also claimed responsibility bombing two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998, killing 231 people, as well as a maritime attack on the USS Cole in 2000 off the coast of Yemen, which killed 17 U.S. sailors.

Pakatan Rakyat Warns BN Sarawak That They Will Be Closely Monitored By Shadow cabinet

Kuching
Monday, 2nd May 2011

PR Sarawak which met here in Kuching yesterday had formed-up the "Shadow-Cabinet". The purpose of the shadow cabinet was to watch the Sarawak Cabinet under Taib Mahmud in performing their duties. To Taib Mahmud and the cronies, be warned that every step that you made will be under closed watch of the PR.

The DAP, which won the biggest of seats in the April 16 election, also holds the biggest number of portfolios.

When spoke to the press, State opposition leader and DAP chief, Wong Ho Leng, said :-
The move is to enable PR to better monitor the overall performance of the BN government under Taib Mahmud the longest serving CM in Malaysia. Other than that the purpose of this "shadow cabinet" is to come up with alternatives to show electorate how we could better administer the state if we are in power.
The shadow member responsible (for a particular portfolio) will have to come with alternative and constructive proposals. DAP, PKR and PAS will never come up with proposals that are destructive.

State PKR chief, Baru Bian, is tasked with native customary rights (NCR) and land development.

The other portfolios are split as follows:

Ibans are not represented

Despite being the largest group in Sarawak but Iban were not nominated to any potfolio in this shadow cabinet. What happened to PR? Are you forgotten that without the Iban there is no way that the Pakatan Rakyat could wrest Sarawak from BN. Whether like or not, in order to take over or to deny BN of 2/3 majority in Sarawak PR must not exclude the Iban.
As for PKR, as I wrote in my earlier postings, there is no way that the party which is a Semenanjung based party could represent ther Iban better than Sarawak National Party (SNAP) or  Parti Asal Kitai as their new tag line for the party. Therefore if PR intends to overthrow the BN from Petra Jaya, PKR must forget its self interest and accept the merger between DAP and SNAP. The blends between way of campaigning by DAP and the Iban support of SNAP, within five years time, PR will be able to take Petra Jaya from BN and subsequently   taking back our NCR lands and natural resources from Taib Mahmud, his family members and cronies.

Royal Wedding: Prince William marries Kate in glittering ceremony

Kuching
Friday, 29th April 2011

London, April 29 — Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton married at Westminster Abbey today in a royal occasion of dazzling pomp and pageantry that has attracted a huge global audience and injected new life into the monarchy.
Before the vows, a veiled Middleton, the first “commoner” to marry a prince in close proximity to the throne in more than 350 years, walked slowly through the 1,900-strong congregation to the swirling strains of Charles Parry’s “I Was Glad”.

As they met at the altar William whispered to her, prompting a smile at the start of the ceremony. The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams declared the couple married with the words: “I pronounce that they be man and wife together.”

Middleton’s dress, the subject of fevered speculation for months in the fashion press, was a traditional ivory silk and satin outfit with a lace applique and long train.

She wore a tiara loaned by the queen and the diamond and sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to William’s mother Princess Diana, who was divorced from Prince Charles in 1996, a year before her death in a car crash in Paris aged just 36.

Bells pealed loudly and trumpets blared as 1,900 guests earlier poured into the historic abbey, coronation site for the monarchy since William the Conqueror was crowned in 1066.

Queen Elizabeth, other royals, David and Victoria Beckham, the footballer-pop star couple, singer Elton John and Prime Minister David Cameron were among famous guests at the abbey.

They joined 50 heads of state as well as charity workers and war veterans who know the prince from his military training.

Huge crowds

Thousands of people from around the world were outside the abbey, many of them camping overnight for the best view of the future king and queen and fuelling the feel-good factor that has briefly lifted Britain from its economic gloom.

“People watching this at home must think we’re completely mad, but there’s just no comparison,” said 58-year-old Denise Mill from southern England. “Ijust had to be here.”

The crowd entered into the festive spirit on a chilly day by wearing national flags and even fake wedding dresses and tiaras. Hundreds of police officers, some armed, dotted the royal routes in a major security operation.

Tens of thousands more people crammed the flag-lined streets of London to catch a glimpse of marching military bands in black bearskin hats, cavalrymen in shining breastplates and ornate carriages that will carry royal figures from the service.

A large gathering is expected outside the queen’s London residence, Buckingham Palace, to cheer on the married couple as they appear on the balcony for a much-anticipated public kiss.

For some, however, the biggest royal wedding since Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 was an event to avoid, reflecting divided opinion about the monarchy.

“It’s just a wedding,” said 25-year-old Ivan Smith. “Everyone is going mad about it. I couldn’t care less.” — Reuters
