Worldwide Anti-Taib Campaign By Bruno Manser Fund : MACC The Commission Without Gut!

Wednesday, 19th September 2012
Kuantan, Pahang

Taib Mahmud Will Be the Next Saddam Hussien  For the West.

A Swiss NGO has lumped Taib Mahmud together with 'money launderers' Indonesian president Suharto and Philippines' Marcos.

The Pirate Of Sarawak

Swiss NGO, Bruno Manser Fund (BMF), has reiterated its call for governments and banks around the globe to freeze the assets of Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud and his family.
It has also called on anti-corruption and anti-money-laundering authorities worldwide to investigate the Taib family’s business activities.
In a statement issued in conjunction with the release of its report ‘The Taib Timber Mafia. Facts and Figures on Politically Exposed Persons from Sarawak, Malaysia’ in Brussels, Belgium earlier today, BMF said the Taibs could be compared to Indonesia’s president Suharto and president Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines.
“The Taibs are being compared to the Suharto and Marcos clans who have also stolen billions from their countries.
“According to Transparency International, former Indonesian president Suharto had embezzled US$15 to US$35 billion, while former Philippines president Ferdinand Marcos is thought to have stolen between US$20 and US$900 billion.
“We want the governments and banks around the globe to freeze Taib family assets.
“These assets should be frozen and restituted to the people of Sarawak, and the Taib family and their co-conspirators should be prosecuted for corruption, abuse of public funds, fraud, money laundering, tax evasion and other related crimes,” noted the statement, alluding to the report which detailed Taib and his family’s extensive wealth.
According to the report, which was released to coincide with the visit by the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Bernard Dompok, to the European Union, Taib and his 20-member clan are worth US$21 billion (RM64 billion).
And the extensive wealth, the report claims, was derived “through the almost complete political and economic control of Sarawak” over the past three decades.
“Taib Mahmud has systematically plundered a country once rich in natural resources, particularly oil, gas and timber. While the proceeds of the oil and gas extraction are mostly benefiting Malaysia’s federal government, the Sarawak state government enjoys total autonomy as to the use of the state’s forest resources and state lands.
“The Bruno Manser Fund estimates the combined net worth of 20 Taib family members at close to US$21 billion, which have been acquired through the almost complete political and economic control of Sarawak, over three decades.
“In particular, the Taibs have established monopolies over the granting of timber and plantation concessions, the export of timber to third countries, the maintenance of public roads as well as over the production and sale of cement and a number of other construction materials,” it said.

Taib’s assets being monitored

Taib, an impoverished carpenter’s son, has been helming Sarawak since 1981.
According to the report, his personal wealth now stands at US$15 billion (RM45 billion), making him the richest man in Malaysia.
The second richest man in Malaysia is his brother Onn Mahmud with a net worth of US$1.5 billion (RM4.5 billion).
Both have been closely linked to logging scandals dating back to 1981, the year Taib assumed the chief minister’s post.
The report cited two key scandals – one in 2007 and another in 2008.
“In 2007, a scandal exposed by the Japanese tax authorities revealed that tens of millions of US dollars had been paid in secret, illegal kickbacks by Japanese shipping companies exporting timber from Sarawak.
“The money was paid directly to Hong Kong companies linked to the chief minister’s brother, Onn Mahmud. The Japanese cartel concluded an agreement in 1981 with Malaysia’s Dewan Niaga Sarawak regarding lumber transport.
“Dewan Niaga is a state-affiliated agency in charge of lumber export control and is headed by Onn Mahmud, one of Taib’s brothers.
“In 2008, Indonesian newspaper, Tribun Pontianak, revealed that around 30 shipments of illegal Indonesian logs were imported into Sarawak and re-exported to other countries every month. Chief Minister Taib Mahmud was implicated in this timber scam,” the report noted.
‘Thief minister’
Taib is now aggressively pursuing his pet project – the multi-billion dollar “Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy” (SCORE) – an industrialisation project comprising 50 hydroelectric dams, oil palm plantations, smelter plants and mining projects.
The projects are being widely opposed by the local communities. The dams are set to displace tens of thousands of indigenous people and will ultimately benefit the Taib family and his close political allies.
“Taib is regarded by many Malaysians as being the ‘thief minister’ of Sarawak.
“In June 2011, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission [MACC] announced that Taib was under investigation for allegations of timber corruption.
“The UK, Swiss, German and Australian governments are now monitoring Taib assets abroad and the ongoing investigation in Malaysia,” said the report.
Taib, meanwhile, has denied BMF’s claims that he is being investigated by the Swiss authorities.
The BMF had alleged on its website that the Swiss Financial Marketing Supervisory Authority is investigating Taib’s alleged assets in Swiss banks.
Taib refuted the allegations, describing them as “utterly false and evidently politically motivated”.
He said BMF had a track record of making “scurrilous and scandalous” allegations against the state government.
“Therefore, BMF’s false allegations about assets held in Switzerland by me are a continuation of their malicious efforts to smear the state, the government and the leaders,” he told members of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly sitting in June last year.

TAIB MAHMUD AGREES WITH MAJORITY SHOULD RULES AND MINORITY MUST LEARN TO GIVE WAY" PRINCIPLE!

"Taib Mahmud Sir! This is the first time that I am in the Agreement With You....
Majority Should Rules and Minority Must Learn to Give Way Principle"
After more than 25 years holding the post of the Chief Minister of Sarawak, today is the first time that I ever read or heard that Jabu beloved Chief Minister Pehin Seri Taib Al-Mahmud saying these two noble principles for democracy; Majority should rules and minority must learn to give way. Taib Mahmud has been quoted by Borneo Post for saying those two principles when he gave advise to the parties that squabble in the formation of Dudong SUPP Branch.
Even though the advise was directed at SUPP members that involved in their party internal crisis but it is not wrong for me to say that the same principles should also applicable for Taib Mahmud political status and his position as the Chief Minister of Sarawak.
Taib Mahmud is of the ethnic Melanau descent. The Melanaus can be divided into six different groups which are: Melanau Mukah, Melanau Dalat, Melanau Oya, Melanau Matu-Daro-Rejang, Melanau Ba'ie (Bintulu) Melanau Balingian and Melanau Miri.
The latest consensus of Sarawak population showed that the population of Melanaus was about 96,000 or about 4% of the Sarawak total population of 2.5 millions people. Even though they are not majority in term of population, but they are politically strong. Democracy promotes the principle of majority should rules. But in Sarawak such priciple is not applicable. This has been proven by Melanau, despite being the minority group , they are in full control of the politic, economy, government administration and many more matters in Sarawak.
Melanau grip on power started in 1970 when Tun Rahman Yaakub took over the Chief Ministership from the late Datuk Tawi Sli, and continued when Taib mahmud took over from Rahman Yaakub in 1982. Since then all the three top posts, the Governor and the Chief Minister and the State Secretary posts have been monopolised by the Melanau. Surprisingly both Iban and Malay did not do anything about it.
By mutual agreement (eventhought the two top posts were supposed to be belong to the Iban), the Chief Minister and the Governor should be held by the Iban and the Malay respectively but as I said ealier when Taib took over as Chief Minister and followed by the infamous Ming Court incident, the mutual agreemen between Iban and Malay was not been followed anymore. The Malay and Iban were just kept quite. But why were they keeping quite? What could be the caused?
For most of the Sarawak populations, the Ming Court incident can be considered as the starting point for the Melanau control and the end of the Iban and Malay political dominance in Sarawak. Since this point and until to this date (Pehin Seri) Taib Mahmud the most powerful Chief Minister in the history of modern sarawak, started to put his own cronies to head all important government departments and business entities in Sarawak.
And to "cripple" the Iban, Taib Mahmud and his Melanau cronies implemented what they termed as a "Politic Of Development". Iban were diprieved from the mainstream development. And to weaken the dayak solidiratory, he tried to do away with the term dayak, instilled the spirit of hatred amongst them by given more development in Bidayuh majority areas compared to the areas inhibited by the Iban .
Another reason why Melanau managed to control Sarawak is through religion. Majority of Melanau are muslim. This has been manipulated by Taib Mahmud to secure the support of the Malay . So far this has been very successful...the Malay still throw their supports to Taib Mahmud and his Melanau cronies despite the fact that they are less developed compared to their Melanau counterparts.
"The robber of Iban Rights....Iban Must Get Back What is Ours From this Robber" If we strictly follow to what Taib said in Borneo Post about the basic principle of democracy : the majority should rules and the minority must learn to give way, with its total population of about 750,000 or 30% of Sarawak total population, no doubt Iban is the majority group in Sarawak. Due to the dumbness of the Iban past and present leaders, both of the posts had been robbed from us by Melanau, Taib Mahmud and Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng (aka Tun Sallahuddin) as the Chief Minister and Governor of Sarawak respectively. Taib Mahmud has been diagnosed with Colon cancer since January 2006 and since then he has been recieving regular treatments in Australia . His last trip to Australia was during the recent Hari Raya public holidays and just came back early of this week.
"Because of the Dumbness of our past and present leader(s) We had Lost What Were Supposed to Be Ours , To Taib Mahmud and his gang of Robbers"
Of no matter whether he made such comment while he was still under the side-effect of kimoteraphy treatment, but I am in the agreement with Pehin Sri (Dr) Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud that Majority should rules and minority must learn to give way. If he fail to practice what he had said, by all means, the Iban must take back what is ours. When I said by all means, it could be through politic or we should follow what had been done by HINDRAF…WE WILL GO TO THE STREET AND REJUVENATE OUR "AGI IDUP AGI NGELABAN" spirit!

Sarawak The Land of The Gambling

All of the 4D enthusiasts in Sarawak will have to increase their budget on gambling as Da Ma Cai, a peninsular Malaysia based gambling company had started to open their outlet in Sarawak. With the inception of Da Ma Cai, Sarawak has became the only state in Malaysia that allows 4 gambling companies to operate.

While all the Menteri Besars in Peninsular Malaysia are trying their best to ensure that their rakyat (people) spend their monies wisely, but Jabu's beloved Chief Minister encourage us to spend more monies on gambling.

Is this the type of government or leader that we we are suppose to choose ? Is this the leader of the people ,for the people and by the people that we should continously support ???

Puan Sri Laila Taib Passes Away..Condolence to Taib & all the Family Members

KUCHING: Puan Sri Laila Taib, wife of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, succumbed to cancer at their residence in Demak Jaya here Wednesday. She died at 3.45pm.
Laila, 68, is survived by her husband, four children including Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman, and 15 grandchildren. Taib’s press secretary Amin Sahmat said the burial would be held at the Demak Muslim cemetery Thursday morning.
Among the first dignitaries to pay their last respects at Demak Jaya on Wednesday were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Sarawak, and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman. The Polish-born Laila and Taib, then pursuing his law degree, were married in Adelaide, Australia on Jan 13, 1959. Three years later, she arrived in Sarawak. Her maiden name was Lejla Chaleck.
In paying tribute to Laila during their 50th wedding anniversary celebration here last January 13, Taib had said she was his pillar of strength and source of inspiration. “I must acknowledge that it is not easy for any woman to be a politician’s wife. Laila has played a major part in making my life very bearable,” he said.
A local writer, Christina Mamora, who was commissioned to write Laila’s yet-to-be published biography, A Story of Love and Compassion, described her as “kind and caring towards others.” “Having spent many long hours interviewing her (Laila) over the past year or so, I was very sad to think how nice and supportive she has been to me, especially in documenting stories about women, when I heard that she was sick,“ she told Bernama here.
In recognition of her active involvement in social work, including as Sarawak Badan Amal Dan Tenaga president, she was awarded the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang, which carries the title “Datuk Amar” in 1988.She was also the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia vice-president (women’s committee chairman) while the setting up of the Laila Taib Cancer Charitable Trust was one of the many testimonials of her keen interest to help needy patients and see that research activities could be carried out for the people’s benefit. -- Bernama
