Christians Reject Muslim Minister Proposal To Drop Word Allah

KUALA LUMPUR
Monday, 11th January 2010

Mind your own religion. How could you as a government servant  advised us to make decision not in our favour! General sir..SHUT-UP you and all your UMNO bigots!

Church representatives here today rejected a minister’s call to drop the claim to use the word “Allah” in the Christian sense.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom earlier today urged church leaders to adopt the same approach as a lay Sabah leader who reportedly said the word “Allah” should be reserved for Muslim use in Malaysia because they have been using it longest.
“Will we or the church, if we don’t use the word Allah, suddenly lose or increase followers in the Christian faith 10-fold?” Utusan Malaysia reported Datuk Clarence Bongkos Malakun, president of the Sabah Justice of the Peace Council, saying in a statement from Kota Kinabalu last night.
“It is time for us, the Christian community, particularly the Catholic make an evaluation based on the present situation for security and public peace and drop the word Allah to calm our Muslim brothers.
“Rather than insisting on the right to use the word Allah it is better if Catholics only use the word ‘Tuhan’ or ‘Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa’,” said Bongkos Malukun.
Unlike the muslim where non-religious scholar can make decision on religious matter, in Christianity, religious matter only can be decided by the religious scholar. Who is Datuk Clarence Bongkos Malakun that proposed catholic to drop the word Allah? His comment was political mooted and made in dilusion. If we have to do so, means we have to rewritten the Iban's bible!...Bukittunggal.
He added that Christians in Malaysia should stick to the Federal Constitution and not follow those in Indonesia on the use of “Allah”.
Pastor Danil Raut, the president of the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) church in the peninsula, was highly critical of Bongkos Malukun’s statement and claimed it was not representative of the Christian community.
“He’s got the right to say his opinion but I definitely cannot agree with him,” Raut told The Malaysian Insider.
“So many people have been using the word before Merdeka. In the language of our people, the Lunbawang and Lundayeh, ‘Allah’ means God,” he added.
“This is stated in the Lundayeh Bible, not the Malay Bible,” he stressed.

Pastor Richard Samporoh agreed.

“I think his statement is very political,” Samporoh said. He noted that Bongkos Malukun used to be a state assemblyman and is a Christian but not a church minister and does not have the authority to speak for all Christians.
“Many people, including the politicians, have misunderstood the whole issue,” said Samporoh, who heads the SIB church in Shah Alam.
“We’re not demanding to use the word. We have been using it for almost 300 years. The case was only filed because of the ban from the Home Ministry,” he added.
Samporoh said he has been a pastor for over 30 years and the controversy only erupted recently, after the federal government banned the Catholic church from publishing the word “Allah” to refer to the Christian God in the Bahasa Malaysia section of its weekly paper.
Samporoh further claimed that there was an agreement between the federal government and the church in the 1980s that Christians be allowed to use the word in their worship.
“We can use the word ‘Allah’ in our Bible, but it cannot be sold in public bookstores,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
“I’m not very sure if there was a written agreement but it was during Musa Hitam’s time,” Samporoh replied when asked.
The Sabah-born pastor is also the adviser to the SIB church in the peninsula and strongly supports inter-faith dialogues.
“Understanding each other is the best way to resolve problems. I don’t think the Muslims understand what is going on,” he said.
Father Lawrence Andrew who edits the Catholic paper, Herald, was reluctant to comment on the issue.
“My official position is this: the case is in the courts. Let the court decide. I cannot comment on it,” he reponded when contacted.
But The Malaysian Insider understands that in the Roman Catholic church, only officials holding the rank of the bishop onwards have the authority to make decisions.
The Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Reverend Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam, who is the publisher of Herald, could not be reached for comment.
He is currently away in Johor for meeting of bishops with the Vatican’s representative who is based in Singapore.
Pakiam is also the president of the Malaysian Bishops Conference

Confirmed Eighth Church Attack - But Christians In Sarawak Still Not Ready To Retaliate

The primarily East Malaysian Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) church in Seremban, Negri Sembilan was attacked today with an arson attempt , leaving scorch marks on its front doors.
The attack did not affect the church interior and was believed to have occurred early this morning.
Rasah member of Parliament, Loke Siew Fook visited the church soon after and confirmed the incident.
“The worship hall was not affected, the attack only affected the front door,” Loke told The Malaysian Insider.

They attacked our church in Miri..we did not do and say anything. This morning they attack our church in Seremban, yet we still do not know what to do. Until today, these extremists had  attacked  Eight (8) of our churches....But do se still want to keep quiet ??..Bukitytunggal.com.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief Datuk Abd Manan Mohd Hassan said a team sent to the church had found signs of attempted arson.
“A team of police officers, together with the forensic unit and the Fire and Rescue Department went to inspect the incident and found the front entrance door damaged.
“We believe assailants used petrol to set fire to the door but fortunately, the fire did not spread,” he told reporters at the scene of the incident.
He said police believe the incident took place between 1.30am and 8.30am as a police unit had patrolled the area at 1.30am and found everything in order.
He added that he had directed all police patrol cars and all police officers on duty to monitor places of worship, especially mosques and churches, to ensure their safety.
“I urge the people to stop such activities. Do not do anything that can disrupt peace and harmony of the country. We will take stern action against those found responsible,” he said.
The first church attack took place on Friday, amid dispute over the use of the word “Allah” by the Catholic Church’s Herald to refer to God in the Malay language.
The SIB church conducts it service regularly in the national language.
Both the government and opposition have moved to defuse tension, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announcing financial aid of RM500,000 for the worst hit church — the Metro Tabernacle.

How long can the Christians wait for retaliation?

Separately, opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a dialogue with the Christian community yesterday.

Perbuatan Membakar Gereja Mungkin Didalangi Oleh UMNO Serta Elemen Luar

Pengaruh Luar Mungkin Terlibat

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in southwest Kuala Lumpur was the latest target. There were no reports of injuries. -- PHOTO: AFP

Mungkinkah Ada Pengaruh Dalaman Yang Mempengaruhi Tindakan Pelampau Ini?

Orang Kristian Harus Rasional Dan Jangan Mengikut Rentak Islam

Thank You.

Malaysia church torched amid Allah row -The Real Colour Of Muslims Prevails

KUALA LUMPUR
Friday, 8th January 2009

A church in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur was firebombed early on Friday, gutting the first storey of the building in a residential area, amid a row over the use of the word "Allah" for the Christian God.
"It is confirmed that Desa Melawati church was burnt, at about 12.25 am in the morning. There were no fatalities. We are investigating the incident and suspect foul play," said Kuala Lumpur Chief Police Officer Mohammad Sabtu Osman.
A court ruling last week allowing Catholic newpaper The Herald to use "Allah" for the Christian God has been appealed by the government of the mainly Muslim nation of 28 million people.
The issue has threatened relations between the majority Malay Muslim population and the minority ethnic Chinese and Indian populations who practise a range of religions including Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism.
Malaysian Muslims, who account for around 60 percent of the population, are set to protest on Friday against the ruling.
The church that was burned on Friday was part of a group called "The Assembly of God".
Many churches in Malaysia are situated in residential or retail areas and often occupy a small lot.
According to 2007 statistics, there are 333 Assembly of God churches in Malaysia.
"There are witness reports two persons on a motorbike came near the entrance and hurled in something looking like a petrol bomb. Our church is 90 percent gutted (on the first floor)," said church spokesman Kevin Ang from the Metro Tabernacle Assembly of God.
It is illegal for non-Muslims to proselytise to Muslims although freedom of worship for the mainly Buddhist, Christian and Hindu religious minorities who make up 40 percent of the population is guaranteed under the country's constitution.
The use of "Allah" has been common among non-English speaking Malaysian Christians in the Borneo island states of Sabah and Sarawak for decades and without any incident.

Kampong Pengkalan Pantu Flooded But Where Are Their BN YBs

Pantu, Sri Aman Sarawak
Thursday, 7th January 2010

Their Village Submerge underwater at  Waist-Deep but Where are their YBs?

Hundred families from Kampong Pengkalan Pantu, Sri Aman sarawak here were forced to evacuate their houses and to find shelter at SRK Chung Hua Pantu because the raising flood water from Batang Strap for the past three days has flooded their village at about 1 meter high or at waist-deep.
According to several residents, the water level as of yesterday was estimated at about one meter high and have been risen since the continous downpour late Monday. They were also been informed of possible rain in the next few days and this was based on the weather forecast released by the government agencies.
In the meantime, their stay at SRK Chung Hua Pantu is monitored and taken care of by personnel from the relevant government agencies

But Where Are Their YBS

We, the Iban who are exposed to the real meaning of development are responsible to tell our people especially those who live in the longhouses or rural areas, that they have been cheated by the BN politicians for more than 45 years. They need to be assisted in reforming their minds so as to put a STOP to the  Barisan Nasional real Politic of Development....Bukittunggal.com
One of the resident informed Bukittunggal.com that none of the BN YBs (From P202 and N25) ever visited them. He was very unhappy with the two YBs for not visiting them. The situation is very different from the YBs in other areas such as in Peninsular. In peninsular malaysia, during calamity, their YBs will visit them and government assistance will be disbursed immediately.
But I am not surprised with these two YBs. They will only show their faces to attend the political gatherings or functions. For example the flood along Jalan Simpang Ubah-Tekuyong-Isu which was reported by  Dayak Nation but so far no efrfort was made by the two YBs to repair the bridge or to the raise the level of the road.

Where is Najib 1Malaysia Slogan

Typical BN Iban politicians for the two constituencies, they always manipulated the people here. But the time will come for the voters in these two constituencies to realise that they have been cheated by BN. Just wait for the next election...They will lose the election as the people has power to VOTE THEM OUT!

How not to widen the 'Allah' dispute

Editorial Desk
The Straits Times
Publication Date: 07-01-2010

The furore in Malaysia over the use of the word 'Allah' by non-Muslims should be kept within its judicial confines, if reason has sway. The government had, in an administrative act, proscribed its use in a newsletter of the Catholic Church. The Church brought a challenge before the High Court, which ruled the ban was illegal. The government has appealed. If the appeal is allowed, whether at Court of Appeal level or in the Federal Court, the final arbiter, Christians and other non-Muslims should acknowledge that the final bar to what they contend are historical antecedents in the use of the word, is immovable. They should concede graciously.
If the judgment stands, which Malaysian opinion thinks is not likely, it would be a reasonable supposition of non-Muslims that the bumiputera-Muslim majority should accept the verdict just as graciously. In either case, respect for the primacy of the law should override partisanship. Malaysia needs this understanding like little else. If the holding line is breached thoughtlessly, there will be a price to pay.
Prime Minister Najib Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin, and Pakatan Rakyat opposition figures as well, have acted to calm feelings and asked interested parties to await the outcome of the appeal. This is being rational, a well-timed caution. It takes little for a very public dispute of a visceral nature to take a nasty turn. Mosque elders should urge restraint in their Friday sermons, and Christian services need not dwell on the issue. Each side has a duty to keep the matter off the streets. All things considered, it is sensible to acknowledge that bumiputera Malaysians have never felt more exposed despite the considerable privileges they have enjoyed after 1970, when race-based allotments were formalised as a matter of policy.
Political control and the unchallenged position of Islam form a duality that defines, for good or ill, what it is to be bumiputera. The Malays felt their political mastery was dangerously eroded in the 2008 federal and state elections, in which the Barisan Nasional took a drubbing. Now, they see in the Allah challenge an assault on their faith, as it has been framed.
There are thankfully Muslim quarters which dispute the rendering as unprogressive and insular. But they remain a voice in the wilderness. A case can be made too that Malaysia would progress even faster if the bumiputeras would let the politics-religion duality be gradually worked out of their psyche. But the Allah controversy shows the day is some way off. However, the squabbling, though heated at times, has in the main been conducted in a civilised tone. This is one hopeful sign.

Iban in Kuala Baram Miri Has No Land to Build Their Longhouse

MIRI, Sarawak
Wednesday, 6th January 2009

Tuai Rumah Silvester Janggat Sawong Appeals to Government For A Land to Build their Longhouse

Thirty families from Sungai Putat Kuala Baram have no house to live in as their longhouse has been  demolished by a company since August 2009.
According to TR Silvester, they have submitted an application with the government to allocate them with Temporary Occupation License (TOL) or a new site to build their longhouse but until now they recieve no resply from the government.
"The villagers are currently putting up with relatives at timber quarters while the rest building temporary huts along the Baram river" Said TR Sylvester.

Politic Of Development real Colour

Barisan Nasional Politic of development is only benefits few people especially the BN Politicians, but it cost  the native their NCR lands, their most valuable asset.
I am predicting  that few years down the road, with the new concept of NCR land development (Joint Venture Concept) more natives especially the Iban will lose their NCR land to the company own by the BN politicians.
People in Kanowit, Empaling, Tekuyong, Ubah, Isu and many more Ibans that live in the upper Pantu areas or in P202 and N25 Constituencies will need to beg the BN government for a piece of land to build their longhouses.
Iban...Wake Up Now or risk losing your NCR Lands!

MUSLIMS MUST ASK 'WHAT CAN THEY DO FOR HUMANKIND' BEFORE THEY DEMAND THAT HUMANKIND RESPECTS THEM!!

In-Humane Court Decision Against Pahang Orang Asli Christians

TEMERLOH,PAHANG
Tuesday, 5th January 2010

Another Religious Supression By Muslim against Christians in Malaysia

Agroup of Orang Asli Christians here today lost a two-year court battle against local and state authorities, seeking basic amenities at their village church.
The High Court here struck out the 2007 suit by a group of Jahut Christians from Kampung Pasu against the Temerloh Land and District Office and the Pahang state government for disconnecting power and water supplies to their village church in Kampung Pasu here.
“The application for a judicial review was dismissed with cost,” Pahang state legal adviser Kamal Azira told The Malaysian Insider.
The amount for cost will be determined by the court later, he said.
Kamal, who was acting for the state and local authorities, said the judge, Datuk Akhtar Tahir, had only given a summary decision in chambers and will supply the written grounds of judgment later.
The government lawyer added that the judge also made a brief reference to Sections 6 and 7 of the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954, which supposedly gives the state authorities the power to gazette an area as “Aboriginal Land.”
Pressed to explain the implication of the court ruling, Kamal, who asked not to be photographed, repeated that the law says “the state authorities are the ones to gazette if an area is [an] Orang Asli area.”
Lawyers for the Jahut Christians told The Malaysian Insider they plan to file an appeal with the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya next week.

James Masing Warns UMNO and PAS to Stay Out of the Word Allah Issues

KUCHING
5th January 2009

Dr James Jemut Masing.....I Salute You!

Datuk Seri Dr James Jemut Masing the Land Development Minister today became the first Iban leader/Minister that comes forward to defend the Catholic Herald in the usage of  the word Allah in it publication.
In defending the court rulings, Dr James warns UMNO and PAS not to get involve in settling the issue because according to him, they hyave the tendency to be biased and may use the issue to champion their own politic agenda,
He further added that it is only natural that UMNO and PAS will be siding muslims while the others side non-muslim, and this can mar the unity and harmony in this country.
"Please note that   the sensitivity of this issue rests on both muslims and non-muslims alike. Home Ministry should not appeal on this (case) because that would mean political interference" said Dr James when referred to UMNO and PAS in politicising the issue.

Let Religious Bodies Deal with the Issus

Masing also reminds both UMNO and PAS not to mix politics and religion but let the religious bodies or the inter-faith council to resolve the issues.
In the related issues, yesterday the Home Ministry filed an appeal against the High Court ruling that the word Allah can be used by the Catholic Herald, and today it will file an application for a stay of eexecution of the court order.
For those who knows Malaysian  Judicial system well can predict the outcome of both of the appeals!
